Do any of the Myrtle properties have a 1Br unit that is ocean front? I have a 2br oceanfront deluxe at TOTG in April booked, but I really only need a 1Br. If we go back in 2024, might as well save the points. Thanks. I know I could likely look this up myself, but like getting the expert opinions here

I know there are some a TOTG. However, the kitchen area was real small at the one I stayed in several years ago.

Wyndham didn't build it, they just purchased some units there.

In May we stayed in a one bedroom oceanfront unit at ToTG. We had the setup where you enter through the bedroom so we looked at the ocean from our living room not the bedroom. Ocean Boulevard has one bedroom deluxe ocean view units. Some of those units have more of a view than others. One of our first stays was in July 2003 at Sea Watch in a one bedroom and we had nice view that I'd call oceanfront. We've stayed at Westwinds but had a two bedroom so I don't know if the one bedrooms have a view.

have you been in a two bedroom deluxe oceanfront in TOTG? There’s 3 of us - we could all fit into a 1 BR. Is there any reason to be in a 2br deluxe oceanfront vs a 1Br oceanfront? About 30k difference in points. I can use those 30k points for four days in Newport in December.

Sea Watch is an odd duck. The same points are used for an ocean front or ocean view unit if it is in the Towers. You have to call the resort to see if they will put you in an ocean front unit once you book it. However, there are more ocean view units so you'll be lucky if you get an ocean front unit. They also have units in the villas, which are usually less points than the towers, but they don't have much or any ocean views.

You'll have a much better chance to getting an ocean front unit at Westwinds than Sea Watch. Most of their units are ocean front with the exception of the last 2 units on each end of each floor. I've never stayed in a side unit but it appears you should have a pretty good view from them. You would have to call the resort to ask for an ocean front unit once you book it.

If you don't mind a cramped kitchen area, little storage space for clothes, or having 2 people in 1 bed, I would say go for the 1 BR.

Westwinds - all 1 bedrooms are ocean front.

I went ahead and labeled Westwinds so you can see the probability of each unit type:

2 BR = 80% Ocean Front; 20% Ocean View (4th to 10th floor)
1 BR = 100% Ocean Front (2nd and 3rd floor only)

I would personally just pick the 2 bedroom to have a higher floor. 80% is a pretty high probability

Sorry that was our first time staying at TOTG. From looking at the pictures of the two bedroom deluxe oceanfront it's a larger unit and a bigger kitchen. If you mostly cook in that might be a deciding factor but we were fine with the smaller kitchen. I would stay in the one bedroom oceanfront again and would definitely want a unit like we had. One with the living room looking out at the ocean not the bedroom.

Newport, RI? Save the points for Newport!

Last month we had a 16 night stay at the Inn on Long Wharf. I called to ask about the laundry facilities because there aren't washers and dryers in the units. The machines in the laundry room are free. While I was taking to the person I asked about the views from the units and a few other things since it was our first time in Newport. She put in a request for us to have a corner unit and that's what we got. We had fantastic views from both the living room and bedroom! You have use of the amenities at Long Wharf, just across the street, and they have nice acitivities.

The kitchen sink in the units at IoLW is REALLY small and there's no dishwasher. I knew that ahead of time and bought disposable plates, bowls and cup to make life easier. There's a two burner cook top and no oven. Not much counter space either. We bring our griddle with us on our trips and we bought a toaster oven at Wal-Mart to to give us more cooking options while we were there. That toaster oven paid for itself so many times over just in that stay.

We were a little hesitant about staying that long in a unit with a minimal kitchen but it worked out just fine. No contest we'll take the killer views over having a bigger and better kitchen! TUG isn't liking the pictures I tried to post. I so enjoyed sitting in bed propped up with pillows and a cup of tea watching the early morning color in the sky over the bay with all the boats anchored. Our living room had a great sunset view but most nights we took a glass of wine to the rooftop deck to watch sunset with the other people gathered there. It was a full moon while we were there so went back up for moonrise too.

I specifically picked the IoLW because it's the only Newport resort that the one bedrooms have a king bed. I have a really bad back and me and my pillows take up too much of a queen bed to make sharing one comfortable for either of us. The units there also have a jetted tub which my back likes.

re: Newport we usually stay at long even though we only need a one bedroom and all they have is two bedrooms. I don’t like to walk across the street for the gym and pool. Next month for my wife’s birthday we are doing a long weekend at oneshore because they have balconies. Hopefully we get a good view. We have had about a 40% chance of getting a good view at long wharf.

re:TOTG - I think the 1Br oceanfronts are odd set ups with weird beds (like a room with two twins). I’ll call the resort tomororw to pick their Brains. But I am leaning towards the 2br deluxe oceanfront. The 30k point difference would just be rolled over to 2024. Maybe nice to pamper our family. I still have a week at Bonnet, TOTG and a long weekend at oneshore Newport in 2023.

The one bedroom oceanfront unit we had at TOTG had a king bed. I think the other set up was two double beds.

The 1BR ocean view set up at TOTG is better than OF in my opinion. The floor to ceiling windows make the views beautiful from the bedroom.
