I am also in a position of wanting to donate a timeshare and would love to hear from someone about this.
Not all timeshares are accepted because of low ratings/trading power. If this happens, does anyone have advice on the process of deeding back to the resort?
The first critically important step is to inquire directly of your resort / HOA whether they even accept deedbacks at all in the first place. Most don't, so assume nothing until you get that question answered. If they do, they will walk you through the process. They will, of course, want your account (maintenance fees) to be current.
I thought that I had purchased a week from them. They had given me incorrect information concerning a Bali Hai week and ROFR. I paid, then they told me the developer DID have ROFR and stopped responding to telephone calls and emails. I finally did get my money back though.
