Anti Virus Selection

We had a major meltdown of our home computer about 3 years ago. Luckily all of the info was backed up. The technician who helped us restore everything told us it was caused by a major virus which Trend Micro should have caught, but didn't. A week later he emailed us a link to an article in PCWorld magazine which described how Trend Micro let a lot of their customers down on this one, while Norton, McAfee and others had detected it and prevented the problem from happening.

Just received an Email with a link to this PC World review:

I wouldn't put much stock in that article or their reviews.

There's one site that's really an independent testing site with results. I'm not going to look it up now, but if you search for it, you might be able to find it. They publish two different sets of results, every 6 months.

Most of the review sites you'll find are just referral sites, that earn a referral fee if you click through to the product.

I've seen that review. nod32 scored very well, but amazingly the 2009 version of Norton did almost as good. For the times it worked, the new NAV did seem pretty good, but it was other system problems that cause me to abandon it.
