Yeah, it’s worth it now, but I guarantee it’s not going to stay at $99 for long…
Thats where its tripping me up- we already have our APs so we wont need the discounted tickets, memory maker ect…Do you believe renewal using points is cost effective? Not sarcasm serious question…This was the first year we spent more nights off property than on and with Epic opening our APs were on the chopping block..Price seems reasonable....but I agree, how long before the increase. I might even be tempted to use some points to renew my AP.
I think “cost effective” is in the eye of the beholder. If I didn’t need the points for a DVC reservation and didn’t want to rent them, it would certainly be convenient to exchange them for an AP and keep the $1,000 cash in my pocket.Thats where its tripping me up- we already have our APs so we wont need the discounted tickets, memory maker ect…Do you believe renewal using points is cost effective? First trips are the absolute best…January visit. It will be DGD’s first trip, so we paid $185 to add Memory Maker
The bogo OTU points for us don't make sense- we generally do use OTU points but not enough to make the math work…purchasing for the lounge access honestly feels forced- I often encounter a wait at the EPCOT lounge. Figuring that without the upgrade that wait will now double the wait time. Would like to have seen it include Top of the world and a redo for Reunion StationUnfortunately, it's a lot of nothing for an AP holder who uses their DVC points at 11 months. We already have tickets and memory maker, I can't imagine wasting my points on anything but a DVC reservation, and I'm sure the conversion value to cash for APs will be just as bad as it is for everything else. OTUs at our home resort(s) at 11 months instead of 7 would have been a fabulous benefit...2 for 1 OTUs at 7 months is useless to us.
So I get to pay $99 for a higher spot on the lounge waitlist. Which would be so much more useful to us if they expanded the lounge hours to be park open to park close. Or if the $99 allowed us to make a lounge reservation.
She won’t even be two yet, so it will be fun as “our first” with her, and then maybe when she’s five or so we can have another trip that will be “her first”!First trips are the absolute best…
Thank you.@AnnaS sending hugs & condolences -
Multiple reports elsewhere say that CMs have told them a new AP will be 90 points, which puts the value at roughly $11-12 pp, so a bit more than dues but less than rental value. So again it will be worth it for some and not for others.and I'm sure the conversion value to cash for APs will be just as bad as it is for everything else.

Love it when they are that young and it’s still the real Mickey Mouse. Those trips are the best. Have had those trips with the grandchildren. Last month I went back and met my daughter, son-in-law and 21 month old grandson/his first trip. Seeing their faces light up is priceless as we all know/experience. My daughter cried when he met Mickey for the first time. Enjoy those moments.
Thank you. I’m glad you were able to make that trip, although I’m sure the joy was bittersweet. Hugs for you. Those trips are the best. Have had those trips with the grandchildren. Can I ask why? DVC points can be easily rented at a rate significantly higher than the value for using them to purchase an annual pass. This is true even if you use a third party broker that does all the work for you such as David’s or DVC Rental Store.Paid for the membership. I will definitely be using some points to renew my AP next year.
Can’t speak for anyone else but I am not a fan of the big broker rental places for various reasons. Renting requires trust on both sides, trust isn't something I am good at…Transfering points between owners that's a different story altogether - that I am comfortable with - everyone involved understands how it works and any risks. Can I ask why? No risk with DVC Rental Store. The only risk is if Disney decides to stop rentals. That could easily happen, and if it does, I will be using our points for us. The kids can use them as well. Can’t speak for anyone else but I am not a fan of the big broker rental places for various reasons. We’d use points for APs simply for convenience - a single transaction with DVC as opposed to multiple interactions with the broker, such as booking the reservation, submitting room location or other requests to MS, and waiting for the last payment when the renter checks in. My time is worth that to me.Can I ask why? DVC points can be easily rented at a rate significantly higher than the value for using them to purchase an annual pass.
