Hi,

A friend told me that there is a limit of 99.999 SPG points per year that can be converted into airline miles.

Is that true?

I can not find it on the SPG page.

I always thought you could convert 20.000 SPG points to 25.000 miles every 24 hours without an annula limit.

has anybody tried to convert more than 100.000 points?

Thanks!

The limit is 79,999 points per transaction, per 24 hour period. So with the 5000 point bonus per 20,000 transferred, its 94,999 points per 24 hour period.

For future reference, this information is available at:

https://www.starwoodhotels.com/preferredguest/account/starpoints/transfer/airline_partner_list.html

Note that the maximum is not the same for all airlines available, Delta is a notable one that is different if you're in the US.

Airline Partners
Listed below are the frequent flyer programs to where Starwood Preferred Guests can transfer up to 79,999 of their Starpoints® per transaction per program within a 24-hour period with most airlines!¹ Plus, for every 20,000 Starpoints transferred, Starwood will automatically add another 5,000 Starpoints within the same transaction for a maximum of up to 94,999 Starpoints, with most airlines, to be transferred into your frequent flyer account making a free flight that much closer.²

There is no minimum Starpoint transfer requirement for Platinum members.³ Gold members have a minimum transfer requirement of 1,500 Starpoints, and Preferred members have a minimum transfer requirement of 2,500 Starpoints.

Transfer maximums are based on a combination of member Starpoints and the Starwood Preferred Guest airline transfer transaction bonus. Only one airline transfer transaction per member per program per 24 hour period is allowed; multiple transfer transactions within the same 24 hour period will reject. Both the Starwood Preferred Guest and airline frequent flyer program accounts must have identical member names in order to complete this request; different names will cause the transfer to reject.

¹ Transfer maximums and exchange ratios vary by airline.

² Transfer ratios and maximums vary by airlines. Transfer maximums are a combination of member Starpoints and the airline transaction bonus. The following airlines transfers vary in maximum and ratios: Continental, United, VARIG, and Singapore each have a maximum transfer amount per transaction of 94,998 Starpoints (79,998 from member plus 15,000 transfer bonus) for a maximum of 47,449 miles due to their 2:1 transfer ratios. Air New Zealand has a maximum transfer amount per transaction of 39,975 Starpoints (34,975 from member plus 5,000 transfer bonus) for a maximum of 615 Air Points due to its 65:1 transfer ratio. Delta Airlines has a maximum transfer amount per transaction of 32,000 (27,000 from member plus 5,000 transfer bonus) due to its 32,000 transfer limit.
