Annual Fee Questions - Due Date

So I know we've discussed this before, but I just want to go over it once again. My maintenance fees are due, on January 1, but there contains a statement on the bill that says "failure to pay within 45 days will incur late charges......", so, from what I understand, is I have until Feb 15 to actually pay my fees.

Reason this is important is, I have a reservation in March that I don't want them to cancel for non-payment. I've been paying $200 a month on my credit card until the fees are paid off, and I have $200 left. Since my credit card bill closes on January 12, if I make the final payment then (12 days after the due date), I have another month to pay off the $200.

So what I am trying to figure out is, if I pay the last $200 after the due date, but before the 45 days grace period, will I have my reservations canceled or should everything still be good?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks,
Ari

I've always paid about 10 days late because I want the credit on my "next year" statement for credit card earnings. Our bill is in the $7,000 range as we own many units.

So I pay about the same time you're thinking (Jan 10 or 12). I've never had a problem and been an owner for 17 years. They won't cancel your reservations. As you said, it's really not due until Feb 15.

I always pay my HGVC-MF's after my CC statement closes in January (1/20).
I got too much other stuff on that statement and R/E taxes to pay as well.

I once got reminder in February, but my account+bookings were not affected.

BTW, if you must carry a balance, it may behoove you to find a 0%-BT offer.

Thanks all. I'll pay remaining $200 after statement closes on the 12.

I don't carry any CC balance, so no issues there. Thanks again.

One of my HGVC properties has a 30 day, and one has a 60 day.

So I spread them out over two billing cycles.

Glad to know that there is a grace period because we are prepaying prop taxes on our primary home in Calif. before year end which was an unexpected, premature cash drain on our budget. For timeshares, we are paying enough this year to cover property tax portion of the bill (every bit helps). Lastly there is a targeted AMEX offer for Hilton gift cards at 20% off. We have it on 6 of our Amex cards so $240 off maint fees is not bad. :whooopie:

Agree... with the new law, I'm paying all my property taxes in 2017, including my April 2018 installment for my home in Calif. But, can you tell me more about the AMEX offer? I have an AMEX platinum card and an AMEX gold card. I haven't paid any MF yet because my Citi Hilton card is being changed in January to an AMEX Hilton card, and I want to get the points on that card for 2018 to get a head start on getting Hilton Diamond status.

I can't tell based on the T&Cs if these cards can be used at HGVC. It does say Hilton Hotel and Resort.

Have you already tried to redeem them?

You need to check your Amex account to see if the Hilton offer is there. I had it on 5 of 8 Amex accounts. You need to then accept the offer. If you have the offer, look at this link https://www.doctorofcredit.com/targ...spend-50-receive-10-statement-credit-4-times/ to get free shipping and earn additional Hilton points.

Btw, a prepayment of anticipated real property taxes that have not been assessed prior to 2018 are not deductible in 2017.

Just paid a portion of our W57 maint fees before Jan 1. The property taxes were the first items to be deducted from the balance.
