I’m always ready for the upgrade to II Platinum and wait for a decent discount. A couple of days ago I noticed a 40% discount for Plat. I thought that was fair enough and did the two year upgrade. The VERY NEXT DAY, I get an email for 50% off. It’s a small amount of money but why would they email me about 40% and then immediately change it to 50%?

I don't think I ever get discounts like that or I might upgrade lol.

I got another 50% email today. Just to tweak me I suppose. ;-)

:ROFLMAO: Marion, in customer relations, hasn't gone to the bottom of her in-box to read that you're now Plat so she can go to the other system and check the box where they stop sending you emails. (I love reading how people expect company IT to always be "on top of it".)

I didn’t expect them to stop sending emails. I’m just curious how a 40% and 50% offer are that close together.

And the 40% offer mechanism was also not great (I did get the 40% off deal, so figured I'd try it).

My guess would be the 40% had been running for a bit, and they were not getting the number of takers they wanted. Here are my options:

Who is going to look at that and say, "No, I would rather have the 40% discount than the 50% one"?

how a 40% and 50% offer are that close together
Most Likely: only 1 person other than yourself jumped on the 40%
(somewhat) less likely: Bruno, in customer acquisition, went out on a hot date after sending out the 40%. Bruno got lucky. He came in the next AM feeling great, so he upped it to 50%.

Fundamental: Do you know how many theories of marketing in general, and pricing in particular, there are??????????????
The "free" nature of email has untethered companies from choosing a strategy and sticking to it. They do this, try that, hit "send" over & over.
the word "gamification" fits pretty well here

This couldn't happen in HELATH CARE, could it? I had a doc appt yesterday. In the week prior, I received 8 or more emails from them. 3 emails were simple reminders. 1 email had actual HEALTH-related info. All of the rest were BS. All of them. They were just trying to trigger me to do things that were irrelevant. I dumped them all quickly with a "Screw that". Now, those BS emails did make me think that 2 (unnecessary) things might happen during my visit. Well, neither thing happened. All those other emails = complete BS. Thanks email.

Company emails? :ROFLMAO:
Pricing for "upgrades"? see company emails

Yours are interesting because one says “discount” and the other says “upgrade offer.”

And also on the Gold side they list the lesser one first, but on the Platinum one the higher one first.

I just wish they would offer me a renewal discount (that is better than their standard multi-year). I got nothin!

Your time will come. My private account has been open for more than a year with no offers until now. My Vistana account expired in May and just got the offer. I bumped up the private account because my Gaslamp 1br is in that account.

Good to know you don't necessarily have to wait the four months. When you renewed/upgraded, did it extend your Platinum membership for two years from the current date or did it back date it to the May date when your Platinum expired?

Thank you for mentioning this. I upgraded our recently-added II account and did get 40% off. I searched for an email with a bigger discount first. I am happy to pay $166 for Platinum for two years. One upgrade and the net cost reduces the amount drastically.

I had to add an additional account because our daughter-in-law's name is on one deed. I couldn't use II for that week. It's a lockoff unit. I should have added a third II account a long time ago.

I find it odd that II made me get multiple accounts for deeds that are different, when the fact is that some of the weeks in my mostly Marriott account had our kids' names on them, and most of the deeds in that account have just Rick's and mine. Go figure.

Is it targeted or can someone share a generic code? I paid $139 for a year of platinum and the only benefit I really used is one upsize discount so definitely not worth it for me. With 50% off, might just add it.

PS: even the discounted upsize is not worth much when II often runs a free upsize offer and you take advantage by pre-exchanging and adding ePlus.

I didn’t renew my corporate Vistana account so I don’t know. My private account never had Platinum before so it goes until august 2027. My II membership for this account expires at the same time. I’ll need to deposit my 2027 reservation (I’ve already exchanged my 2026). Then I’ll decide what I want to do with my Gaslamp Plaza unit after that. It has been a great trader in RCI and II.

Yes, thanks for the thread. :)
I just checked online and I was able to take advantage of the 40% off platinum for two years.

The free upgrades don't come often enough for me. I often pay for upgrades because the inventory I get with my weeks is something I take because I may not get an opportunity later. These are exchanges to Maui, Kauai, Oahu and Newport Coast. Grab while you can.

If you don't own in a system with preference, you don't know what you don't know. I remember those times. I remember owning generic resorts and had no idea what was out there for exchange. There are some great generic traders but owning resorts with preference and reduced exchange fees, I know what I know.

I got the 40% too, never the 50%. I would call customer service. They should honor the additional 10% off.

I just called II customer service and all they offered me were regular prices (and at an eye popping increase from the last 5 year renewal). I didn't have a promotion number, because I never got the promo from them despite ours expiring January 2026. I would be thrilled with 40% off. They could keep the extra 10% ;)

Any advice? I imagine the codes might be tied to specific members?

I didn’t get any code. It was just available in my account under renewal. They also sent an email.

Well, now I am just feeling left out :( . I checked there first, my account under renewal, nothing there and then called them. He was very clear: no code so he can only see the numbers he gave ($853 for 5 years etc.) that can't be the 40% off numbers (one would only hope not!)
