I use Firefox as my browser. I just started using a new Add-On, called Cooliris Previews. You can read about it here. It makes reading TUG threads so much easier. Now I highlight a thread, and point to a small icon that lights up at the end of the thread. A pop up box opens with the the thread I'm looking at. It's not a new window, when you are done with it, click the X and it just goes away. To keep it from going away if you accidentally move your mousie, click on the lock in the upper right hand corner. You only have to do that once, and it helps. It makes it much easier to browse. If you only want to look at the last few posts, then move to the arrow to the right of the last poster's name, and you'll see the little icon there, and can bring up that part of the post, then scroll backwards if needed.

Its really slick, not a memory hog they say, and makes browsing much easier. Its also a good way to look at all the links on one's personal Yahoo page, etc.

Wow! It's great for lots of things. Contextual search is useful. Do you use PicLes? Great fun and useful if you want images.

Fern,

Thanks for the link and heads up. Cooliris looks like a very useful tool.

I haven't figured out if there's a way to make the pop-up window larger.

Also, is there a way to make an avatar picture larger?

Thanks again,

Richard

Thanks Fern! That's pretty cool. I can see how it will be even more useful after I get used to it and it's features.

When the window opens, click on the lock so it doesn't disappear if you move your mouse (you click on the X to close it). Then to make the window bigger, pull down at an angle on the bottom right corner. You'll see that its different from the others and makes the box expandable. I made mine bigger.

I have no idea how to make an avatar bigger. I don't think you can do it, or not well, cause of the resolution. But maybe I'm wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

You can click on the up arrow 3rd from the left and it will open the window in a new tab that is a maximized window.
