AmEx Plat Authorized User Fee going up (a lot)

I had already been reconsidering my AmEx Plat given the changes in Delta SkyClub access. Today I just heard that the Authorized User fee is also going up. I used to be able to get a card for my wife and both adult children for a total of $175 extra per year. That was a pretty easy call--each Authorized User had club access, comped mid-tier status at most hotel brands, and comped Global Entry application fees every four years.

Now that's going up to $195 per person. I love my kids, but unless they no longer want birthday presents, those cards have to go. I will still pay for their Global Entry, but I will do that a la carte. Same with club visits if they are traveling with us.

Many of those benefits are only available to actual card holders, either primary or authorized users.

We have the Morgan Stanley version of the Amex Plat card, that still provides one free authorized user. Though you need to have an account at MS to qualify..

It's a part-time job to maximize the credits.. they will change it once you get used to it. I had audible for entertainment credits but that's going away.

Yes, it is part time. I am waiting for one of the transfer bonuses to use points, but haven't used any of them yet. Was close to converting to Avios with the 40% bonus but decided to hold on to them.

You can bring a guest each into the priority lounges, but cardholder only or 75000 spend for guests for centurion lounge. Im super disappointed because my three included users were the rest of my family.
