Amazon mattress.

Sounds like you are rationalizing your decision on how to feel comfortable keeping it. It’s your decision, not mine. You received permission from the seller to keep it, so it’s completely up to you.

My wife has ordered a number of items from Temu and done returns on several. Every time they have said to keep the item. Certainly cheaper than sending it back to China. In some cases she has tossed the item (it was junk) and in other cases kept it and repurposed it for something else. Or it got stuffed in a closet.

Kinda reminds me of our Starbucks situation on the weekend. We go in and order two vinti beverages. THey call our names but the beverages were only grande. They offered to remake them for us. It seems the cashier didn't hear us say vinti and we actually paid for grande, but they remade them anyway. They then had two grande beverages that they offered to anyone that wanted them. Not us though, even though we had to wait longer for our drinks to actually be made as we wanted them.

In the case of the mattress, I would keep it if I had a way to repurpose it. Perhaps a spare bedroom cold have the mattress replaced instead. Outside of that, I wouldn't have a place to store it and it would probably get offered up on a local marketplace group.
 
OT-but for those reading about keeping mattresses out of landfills...try a topper on a "no flip" mattress back side. We only needed a new mattress for 2 years before we moved. As the memory foam on top of our new (very) firm Amazon mattress in another room worked so well, I decided to try it on our 12 yr old pillow top mattress that "couldn't" be flipped as the other side was cloth covered hard carboard. But, with memory foam on top, it felt the EXACT same as a brand new firm mattress with a nice cushy topper-comfy with great back support. I don't know why everyone doesn't do that to extend a "no flip" mattress life by at least 3-5 years. A high quality topper ($400-500 at Kohls, regularly on sale 40-50% off) will last for 5+ years.
 
You would probably discover that taking it to a dump would cost a $50 or so dump fee, and getting someone to take it another $100.
 
Many family members have lived in our day light basement in the past. My grand daughter and her husband has moved next door. I thought we were empty nesters but another family member and her partner are moving in tomorrow. They have their own bed. So now I have to do something with this bed. I have no place to put it so it might end up at the dump.

I don't like people coming over that I don't know so selling this isn't an option. I texted a few people to see if they or someone they know might want it. It's going some where by the end of the week.

List it for sale on FB market place? Or put it on the curb with a FREE sign?
 
It's gone. I suddenly had two wanting the mattress. Both are related. My son wanted it for his guest bedroom and I told him ok. Then one of my grand daughters asked for it 30 minutes latter. Her and her husband are much younger than my son and since my son has a really nice bed and the grand daughter is sleeping on a junker I asked my son if she could have it. He said ok.

They came up and took it tonight. Problem solved. I will never buy another bed from Amazon.

Is it really possible to get a quality mattress that is able to be rolled up and put in a box. I have a Charles Rodgers Powercore Estate. I toured the factory where they make them (next to the showroom) and I saw how thick the coil metal was (14 gauge?). I can't imagine it would be able to be rolled up.

My daughter has one we bought from Costco - but she is 5' tall and 85 lbs - anything should be good for her.

I’m pretty sure the rolled up mattresses are all made of foam. Our millennial DD and DSiL bought one several years ago - I can’t remember which brand - but really like it.

We learned shortly after moving to this development on the fringes of a major metropolitan area that we could put something on the curb and no matter how beat up it seemed to us, it would be gone within hours if not minutes. No sign needed.

This mattress was perfect for me but too firm for my wife. She is too light to compress the mattress. Someone on this thread suggested a mattress topper for our select comfort bed and I did purchase one from Amazon for under $200. I think this will work. I can still have my side of the bed firm and she can have her side soft.

My rant with Amazon is I was stuck with the mattress but I probably would purchase a mattress from them again. I have bought five 10- 12 inch memory foam mattresses and steel pedestals from Amazon for our cabin over the years because mice were getting into the box springs of the originals.

One of the neighbors a few blocks away does this. They place items on the edge of the road with a free sign on it. Their road has way more traffic than ours so it seems to work.
