Hi Everyone!
No plans for Labor Day, just wondering what everyone is planning for September travel or family get together?
Catching up on Dr visits, some family visits and waiting for cooler temperatures in the fall. I renewed my membership for 3 years so I’ll be on here hopefully more often. Stay healthy and safe!

I've got the car packed, and headed over to Attitash Mountain Village shortly. One last hurrah before the crazy of two jobs starts back up. Year four of math teaching is about to begin!

I just got to Willow Ridge in Branson today after 2 days of driving. Really glad we had Walmart+ and Instacart+ to just get everything delivered as we were beat (and I think my sister is fighting off a cold). Hope to have a review this week.

Attitash, Samoset, and Cold Spring Resort are ones that show up semi-frequently for various deals in RCI I think, but I can't tell if they're fun places or not - seeing as you're going quite a bit, have you written reviews (or want to comment here) if / when they're nice to go to (and if they have 2BR, I recall some seem to be 1BR only that show up for cash or whatever).

Sent you a pm to try to answer some questions. :)

The great thing about being retired is not realizing this was a holiday weekend before today! 🤣 🤣 🤣

Kurt
Even not being retired, I generally only know it's a holiday (outside of 4th of July and Christmas and New Years cause fixed dates and 2 of them have the date basically in the name) is because my office has someone who shoots out an e-mail so you don't try and work on the wrong days.

Labour (as we spell it in Canada) Day is usually few days after my birthday and signals the end of summer. :( We have already had October like weather this week but temperatures are forecasted to be much better next week.

I booked a week stay in VA (Presidential Resorts at Chancellorsville) when RCI had a sale on the other week for the end of September. We have wanted to go there for years and have had to cancel 3 previous reservations (2 during Covid border closures and the 3rd due to needing chemo). A cousin from California is living in Alexandria VA while her military hubby is posted at the Pentagon for 2 years so we will be spending some time with her and now as well with my uncle (her dad) who booked a flight out from California so he could see us as well. My aunt passed away in June after a lengthy illness and he hasn't been able to travel for many years. Now at 81 he has a big "to do" list! We have been to DC before but will still spend a day or 2 seeing what is new or what we missed last time.

When our adult DD heard we had booked a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom unit she started scheming ways to also join us as she has many times in the past. She will fly down after her 'cant be missed' meeting on the Wednesday morning and fly back home Sunday night. Since we are driving and will be leaving Sunday morning we will drop her and her backpack off at or near my cousin's house so she can spend the day with them before catching an early evening flight home. We will take her roller board carry on with us in the car so she doesnt need to lug it around all day.

We will be back at home for almost exactly 1 month, then leave for 7 weeks at our condo in Florida and a visit with our oldest DS who now lives near Tampa. Yay, can't wait!

We are Jeeping this weekend near our cabin area. Hopefully, the Wildcat Fire doesn't shut us down.

We have close, long-time friends that throw a three-day party every year called Labor Day Bonanza. It includes fully-catered meals all three days, board games (they own over 300,) magicians, laser tag, a cartoonist who draws guest portraits, full-day babysitting for younger kids, etc…you wouldn’t believe me if I shared the whole schedule. They live in the town where I work, so we just commute back and forth each day, Fri-Sun. They do this as a gift to their friends, and have hosted it since they graduated from college.

On Monday, we drive uo to NYC in a rented SUV filled with the rest of our DD’s stuff, meeting her that evening as she drives down from ME, to get her settled in her new dorm and ready for the first day of classes on Tuesday. We’ll drop the rental at LGA on the way home Tuesday, driving her car back to NC.

Next year, I’m determined to meet @missycrews on one of our trips up to ME! :)

But the not-great thing is that other people don't go to work.
So that means, we can't get things done.
No calls to doctors, no pharmacies, no banking, no service people...

@amycurl, summer got away from us! Hopefully next year!
