Almost Labor Day!

But the not-great thing is that other people don't go to work.
So that means, we can't get things done.
No calls to doctors, no pharmacies, no banking, no service people...
One holiday day doesn’t prevent getting things done any other day. Not sure why everything would be left to this coming Monday as yesterday was Friday, a normal business day. I’m fine with everyone that works for a living getting a day off for Labor Day. Around here, if you don’t make it to hw store by noon Sat, you’re waiting until Monday anyway. Add one more day for holiday. Or, plan ahead, or, drive farther. Use ATM, pay premium for the plumber, go to ER or clinic, etc. I’ve gotten used to no 24 hr anything around here and about used to most everything closed on Sundays. I don’t feel any kind of burden with the few federal holidays that close things. I feel more burdened by having no pizza delivery available ever. I’d feel quite burdened if I had a stack of urgent banking needs all of a sudden on a holiday.

I took Mom to Branson this summer...so FUN! I hadn't been there since I was in college. I'm interested in what you think of French Lick as well. I have a kiddo in college out at Southern Illinois University. I don't look for her to return to New England after she's done...and French Lick would make a nice place to get together. Enjoy your trips!
Thanks. We enjoyed our first trip to French Lick even though we were somewhat limited with 3 kids under 9 and elderly parents in tow. Funny story,,, when we asked the in-laws if they would like to come along, my MiL asked if it was an 'adult' resort due to the name! Haha! We explained the origin of the name to her and she was relieved. We did the Gus Grissom Memorial Museum (DH & DS are big anything air force/military fans) as well as a train museum. I imagine French Lick has grown/expanded in the over 30 years since we visited. I will try to keep notes on both places to do reviews.

I never plan to do anything on holiday weekends that involves leaving the neighborhood. Even when I worked I was the same way.

Too much traffic, crowds, craziness. Plus I had cataract surgery in my first eye Wednesday and my eye sight is screwed up until I get the second one done on the 16th.

My neighbor had a nice get together on Saturday so that was fun. Most of them are part timers and have left to go back to Massachusetts today. I realized that with the exception of 2 other people- my husband and I were the oldest of the bunch. They are all still working- in their 50’s and 60’s. Made me feel kind of weird.

But non stop fire works , motorcycles = NOISE- around us all weekend into the late night was making me nuts.

I seem to be getting more intolerant of it. I do sometimes miss the quiet, rural lifestyle we had before retiring here.

Also been feeling a bit depressed due to a big problem our son has gotten himself into. Since I can’t drive or swim or do certain things right now I am spending a lot of time just thinking and reflecting.

A plus is the weather is gorgeous today. Sunny, 76, and windy. I love wind!

The big rain came and the hatchery salmon decided to head home so we packed up and headed home. I was getting tired from catching so many salmon anyway. As soon as we got home I got a call to go Jeeping the next morning so I did. Jeeping was muddy but fun. My favorite Jeep buddy rode shotgun. She is now 12 and I have a feeling she will seem like 16 very soon.

I labored today. Cleaned out drawers and a closet and did a lot of laundry and the floors. Made lasagna for dinner. My back, shoulders and knee hurt! In 10 days we are going to drive to hubby's high school reunion in VA for two nights and from there to Lancaster, PA for three nights, on to our CHS part time neighbor's house in CT for two nights and then on to Cape Cod for two weeks. First time in the Northeast in the fall.

Same here. Was not one to take advantage of going away for the holidays or three day weekends for the same reasons.

The kids will always have us going for some reason/one way or another physically, emotionally and mentally. Feel better/speedy recovery and I hope all works out with whatever your son is dealing with. I can relate many times.

Last two morning weather was beautiful and really enjoyed my walks in the morning with my two neighbors. Yesterday spent the day with one of my sons and family.
