Allied Management Svcs or Malibu Event Mgmt

Has anyone heard of either of these two companies (Allied Management Services or Malibu Event Management)? Both have recently offered to buy our Mexican timeshare. I don't find either one mentioned on TUG BBS. Both have very professional looking websites, but I know that they are easy to create. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

There is a simple rule of thumb with timeshare business offers:

NEVER pay an upfront fee - no matter what they call it.

Reputable brokers take all the fees out of the proceeds of the sale, AFTER the sale.

We get these inquiries from owners a number of times everyday it seems. The answer, as Denise said, is that it NEVER EVER is a good plan to pay so much as a $1 - not to mention hundreds or thousands - to ANYONE that solicits YOU and wants money to sell, transfer, rent or advertise your timeshare prior to you getting paid by the buyer/renter/transferee. If they want even a dollar then the chances are extremely good they are after the upfront money only and have no way/plan to actually sell/rent/transfer your timeshare to a new owner.

DO NOT try to deal with them is the consistent and best advice we can offer to all who ask. Far too many don't take that advice and lose whatever money they decide to risk. Don't do it. Handle the sale/rental/transfer of any timeshare you are done with yourself to assure that you don't get ripped off or worse.

My guess is they're pitching you one of two common spiels.

First spiel, they are saying they are representing some corporation that is trying to buy a large number of units at your resort. The story will usually be that they are intend to use the units as perks to employees or clients, and the company gets some tax writeoffs. Totally bogus.

Second spiel is that they are doing it so they can rent the space to conventioneers. Again, totally bogus. People who organize conferences and conventions have no interest in having attendees stay in timeshares since the financials of putting on a conference depend on having attendees staying in affiliated conference hotels.
