The customer service for Alaska Airlines text is 82008. I texted this to cancel a flight last night. How it went was I texted 82008 that I need a customer service rep. It automatically texted back that a rep would be with me in 20 minutes. About 20 minutes later a rep texted how can I help. I texted the confirmation code, my name, mileage plan number and that I wanted to cancel this flight because I made other plans. Alaska had canceled this flight and was in the process of changing it.

So they canceled the flight. It was so easy.

We have an Alaska flight Saturday, so that's good to know. Thanks!

Just curious -- could you have done that online or via the app? Just wondering why I would need to text a CS rep.

I do all of that either on line or using the phone app (most often on-line). Changes are completed right away.

For some reason, Tmobile is having an issue in Nuevo Vallarta in the resort area and in the rooms. I can call out to the USA in front of the resort. Anyway, a flight was canceled and rerouted but would have caused a two day delay. I made other plans to get here yesterday. On our previous flight to Hawaii our flights were cancelled twice so I had called and was placed on call back. They called me the next day. The texting thing took 20 minutes.

I couldn't make any changes on the Alaska Air website. They wanted me to call a customer rep. Their 800 number was hanging up as soon as it transferred to a rep. The text worked to get through. An hour ago while I was at Mega I answered my voice mail and I do need to call in eventually. I hope I remember because I'm here for the next month.

Ok - I see. That happens sometimes. I see it when there are changes in flight departure times. Alaska always wants me to call in to confirm the change; can't do that on-line for some reason. But I've always been able to do a cancel and rebook on-line, and also make changes such as switching to a different flight.

Yupers. Our recent flight to Hawaii was canceled a couple times and I was able to cancel them out online and depart out of PDX. This on to PVR was odd. When we landed I received an email saying our flights had been canceled on Tuesday with a different confirmation code but we were already here. I thought I would take care of this at the resort. When I did log on to our account it showed a flight that we had canceled using miles on my wifes account. I had canceled this within a few hours because I wanted to use a companion fare on my account.

Currently I don't know what is happening. I had thought that maybe I didn't cancel that ticket but all of the miles are accounted for. I think they goofed but my experience with this is it is 50/50. Alaska Air has asked me to call them. Eventually I will.

I also need to call to confirm a change in time for a flight in a few months. I've been holding off because, at least earlier this month, wait times were very long due to flight cancellations. So, I've been waiting for things to clear.

Now they're having problems at Paine Field. Paine Field is fogged in, 5G towers are on, and the Embraers do not have altimeters approved by FAA for operation in a 5G environment. Yesterday, Alaska cancelled every flight they had into or out of PAE.

We got caught up in the weeks of chaos that followed the snowstorms in the Pacific Northwest the day after Christmas - the wait times at one point were 20+ hours, and Alaska agents were not returning calls to customers they had assured "not lose your place in line" for a callback.

During that week, Alaska's text # did not function - messages were returned as unable to deliver.

I had heard that Twitter can be a good way to get a company's attention, and so I went there. Tweeting my issue on Alaska's main Twitter page got me nothing - I think they were so overwhelmed that they weren't monitoring there. But sending DMs (Direct Messages) via Twitter did get a series of responses from real people over the next 2 weeks. It turns out that their powers are somewhat limited - they couldn't change flights or rebook. But they could cancel flights and process refunds. Once I had taken matters into my own hands to search out alternatives for getting to Kauai and booking the new flights myself, the Twitter agents sent the refunds through without me having to sit on hold again. It also helped (I think) that we had a series of DMs that told the story.

PAE cancellations continuing today.

Wow, I got to text Alaska customer service already. When we checked in for tomorrow's flight, my boarding pass said TSA Pre-check. DW's did not. We both have Known Traveler numbers (Global Entry) in our Alaska profiles. I texted 82008 and they texted back in 20 minutes. She found and fixed the problem quickly. Somehow my birth date got filled into her profile when I booked the tickets. You have to keep a close eye on autofill programs like Dashlane when 2 people are on the same web page. I apologized to her, and thanked her. Now both our boarding passes are TSA Pre-check.

Thank you Bill!

My story took a turn for the worse this morning when I looked for our trips to see when we needed to be at the airport. Our return flight was cancelled. I was told it was at my request. I explained there were two confirmation codes and they had canceled the wrong code . While I was waiting for a call back I was able to book another flight in kitty corner isle seats. What a mess Alaska Airlines has become. I did receive the call back and was told to call back or go online 24 hours pre-flight to upgrade if I want. I doubt I do. Kitty corner isle seats are ok this time.
