Air traffic control absences surge, hitting almost half of major US airports

This seems only fair. Wish they'd get it settled

I hear that by Thursday or soon after Thursday that the Government will reopen. I think it has to do with today's happenings.

Bill

Just flew back from Wisconsin to Florida. No issues, no delays

I’ve always wondered how ATC employees are not considered “essential government workers”. 🤔

Kurt
I know! I have a friend who works with paperwork approvals for paying home health services for Veterans and she's working , essential . It's just the paperwork

All I can say is I'm glad I don't have any flights scheduled for right now. Next trip is February, 2026. I will say that delays, cancellations, lost luggage, etc. have all happened to us even when there isn't a shutdown.

I have flights scheduled over Thanksgiving -- 25 days

I've heard all kinds of rumors that it might open soon. What happened today? I should know, but I don't. I had heard that the elections tomorrow might have some impact.

Voters are voting. I thought about voting but decided I don't care. I might be a political atheist if that's a thing, lol.

They are considered essential government employees, but that just means they are required to work even if not paid.

Not certain, but i think Congress, both House and Senate are some of the only people mandated to be to be paid during a shut down.

No, what you are is apathetic. And if you don't vote, you can't complain.

So the very people who are causing the shutdown to continue are the ones getting paid. Makes sense. And actually not all of them are working. The House hasn't been in session for how long now?

And who writes the laws that say who has to be paid. Ooooh Congress. Not self serving at all.

That sounds about right except I do complain about all of those windbags as I don't like any of them for the most part. I can't believe anyone does. It's like bad shrimp.

The House actually passed a budget prior to the shutdown. The Senate is the problem and doesn't deserve to get paid.

"I hear..." Cite/source other than rumors and clickbait?
