Advice on best option to secure a spot during spring break

I think Big Matt's point regarding the White week is that you will be paying $1,300 or so in MF's to get you those 1,675 points. Alternatively, you can rent those 1,675 points for around $800-850...."costing" you close to $500 annually.

Having the Red week gets you in the game, once enrolled, gets you an account in the DC...and from there, you can transfer in (rent) as many points as you need at the current rental fee costs. So he is saying that having the White week would actually cost you more annually, than not having it...especially if you are using it for points.

dpico,

Big Matt and Fasttr are right. The white week will be more problems and money than it's worth. If Fasttr's post is correct each point cost $.77 in maintenance fees. Very high. They most likely may even increase above that. Renting the points makes more sense. You rent just the extra you need.

Just to finish this out, I have two platinum weeks (Manor Club and Grande Vista). I pay just about $2500 in maintenance fees for both combined and get just over 5000 points each year. You could buy either on the open market for a very low price or for nothing and combined with your red unit have the points you need for Aruba or somewhere else with similar requirements.

Just to clarify, based on today's enrollment rules, the OP cannot buy resales cheaply today, and enroll them in the DC along with their Red week.
