HI All,

Planning a family trip for [specifics deleted] going with my husband, 21 year old son, and 72 year old mother. We want to rent 2bdr timeshares in Vegas and then 1 week in either Sedona or Scottsdale.

We prefer to do 4-5 nights in Vegas (then on the Grand Canyon for train ride 1/2 night stay) then onto Sedona or Scottsdale for 1 week timeshare stay.

Will consider 7 nights in Vegas and just leave early if cost effective/right resort

We need 2bd in both places.

Have looked at all the TS resorts in Vegas(I was there once and stayed at Mirage) and still VERY CONFUSED as to the best option for us.

Want to spend 900-1300 MAX in Vegas a bit more in other 2 locations.

LIke MGS (Marriott) but I am concerned there is basically not a resort type pool

Looked into Wyndham TS in Vegas but concerned the quality (especially furnishings i.e. bed comfort) will not be great and transportation to and fro strip a hassle? (saw a unit for 4 nights in Presidential Suite which was a very good price but didn't book b/c airline not booked yet)

HILTONS (Flamingo and the other further away) anyone have any input on these specifically the Flamingo and parking situation) Sounds like ideal location but what about the UNITS? What about the resort like amenities specifically being comfortable at the pool?

POLO TOWERS/VILLS DIAMOND RESOrts
Any input on these? Also Jockey Club Seems like great locations what about the POOL?

SEDONA vs SCOTTSDALE this time of year and any input on the plethora of resorts there (Had my eye on Westen Keirland but not willing to pay 2000-3000k a week) Looked at Hyatt in Sedona…any thoughts?

OK this is a lot but here goes.

Mother doesn't drive a resort within walking distance to the strip would be good for her, need pool area with a bar and shade. If easy monorail or shuttle service would be OK.

I mentioned the pool several times but we will not be at pool EVERYDAY as we plan on day trips to RED ROCK and or Lake MEAD we will have a rental car

Son husband and I play Texas HOld em poker so we want to get to casinos and get into games/tournaments easily. Mom plays slots here and there not hardcore.

I didn't like the lack of availability of a seat at the pool when I went to the Mirage (and that was in summer end of JUne ALWAYS PACKED) Not waking up at the crack of dawn to get a seat.

BEDS BEDS BEDS…need comfortable beds and linens, need operational kitchen for breakfast, lunch will be eating dinner out.

DO I need a veranda/terrace seems like a real plus for evenings, my Mother would really enjoy that.

SEDONA VS SCOTTSDALE really clueless here but that part of the stay should be a more spa like experience with nearby activities/towns and dining options.

OK TUGGERS I am so new to this forum and would really appreciate any input! I know its a handful of wish lists but have never been anywhere mentioned but Vegas and really hated the lack of walkability in the heat and the difficulty with the pool situation Mom said Sedona was beautiful but other than that we are newbies to area and TS in general.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

V

I'm sorry, but when you post a very detailed rental request in the discussion forums, people will respond to it as a "rentals wanted" Ad, so I have deleted some of the specifics.

Have you looked at the TUG Ratings and Reviews for the resorts you are interested in?

If you have an RCI Acct., look at the rentals there for Las Vegas - very, very inexpensive.

Las Vegas is not really walkable, unless you are staying AT a Casino, or you mom is very athletic.

Hi Denise,

I was just letting people know the time of year I am going, this is not a rental request. I know WHERE to look on TUG and other sites for that I just wanted TUGGER advise on what I should be looking at shooting for. I really am confused as to what I should be looking for. I imagine if I were going in hypothetically week 5 vs week 17 vs week 49 I would get very different advise on the best options. If they do not have the info when I am going it may be difficult to respond. How can I change this or allow TUGGERS to see the relevant info?

Thanks,
V

I'm sorry - this is TUG Policy. I know that it wasn't your intent, but when you post all the details - people will respond with rental offers. Don't be surprised if you get some offers by PM or email, but we do try to keep them out of the discussion forums.

All I deleted was the date, and honestly, the time of year doesn't make that much difference, because you have already given us very specific details about what you are looking for.

To the OP -- I just 'tried' to read through your entire post and got lost along the way. If you want specific feedback -- I think you have to be more specific with your questions. For instance, use one post for the Vegas portion and another for the Arizona portion.

I think a good way to get opinions is to list your top 3 choices for Las Vegas, and your top 3 choices for AZ, and then let Tuggers weigh-in.

When it's real open-ended, it's harder for people to respond.

Ok lets break it down!

Thoughts on the following Vegas resorts:

HGVC (FLamingo and the other further down on the strip

MGC (just off the strip)

Wyndam (THink its called GRAND DESSERT)

Would like unbiased opinions…prefer those who have knowledge of these options via a exchange or general knowledge of VEGAS

these are RCI. i don't know RCI.

MGC (just off the strip)

marriott's grand chateau is probably the top resort in vegas for interval international. super nice villas with a really good location near the strip. i really enjoyed my stay there a few years ago. the only downside is a subpar pool and limited availability for non-marriott owners.

i would also consider polo towers villas since i stayed there a couple of years ago. the rooms aren't as nice as the marriott but they are still very nice. the location is a little better than the marriott. the only minor issue i had with them was a strong perfume smell in the lobby. i think they share a pool with another resort but i didn't try it...if i were looking for a great pool in a timeshare in vegas, i'd go with tahiti village (which requires a shuttle trip or car to get to the strip).

the best location is probably the jockey club next to the bellagio. i haven't stayed there, though.

I've stayed at all of them plus the other HGVC next to the Westgate (formerly LVH). If you want to be right in the center of all the action, the HGVC Flamingo would be the one. With the new Linq entertainment corridor and the High Roller right there, it's a popular location.

I think the Marriott had the nicest units but all of them are very nice with comfortable furnishings. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

Dont worry Denise, I could provide pretty good accommodations for her, but I wont respond, Anyone with such specific needs is in my opinion un- satisfy-abel

Thank you this reply was helpful. Appreciate your input.

Yes you are right. Need to consider everyone and either HGVC/Marriott in Vegas seem to be the front runners. Thanks for you thoughts.

Your "opinion" of me or my post means nothing to me or most likely anyone else. If you are not joking you're out of line. If you are joking might be best to establish a rapport with someone online before responding in a manner that could be classified as "trolling".
Btw MEN have been telling WOMEN they can never be satisfied for ages. Not very progressive in thought .
I see your stuck in the 60's so…

PEACE

Of the three choices I think only the Flamingo would offer walking distance to a casino for your mom. They also have a nice pool area.

The Jockey Club does have some good things going for it -- like use of pool next door -- and walking distance to some casinos. However, I have stayed there and it would be a bit of a jolt to anyone who didn't know what to expect, with it nearly 'hidden' back where it is.

Thanks read a lot since original post. Just no getting around the overall terrible walkability in Vegas, but I do want her to have access to the nearest pool bar for some late afternoon cocktails :whoopee:

Ok ..second part of trip

Thoughts on following resorts for the above referenced trip:

Sheraton Desert Oasis (location of resort in relation to activities spa options)

Hyatt Pinon Point (same as above)

Kierland Villas (not a golfing bunch worth it?)

Marriott Canyon Villas (beauty of resort vs SDO, spa options in area)

ANY of this caliber of resorts in Sedona or Scottsdale I should have on my list?

Random thoughts/suggestions welcome!

With regards to Vegas, we are booked at the Marriott after looking a polo and Tahiti extensively. We wanted a strip location and decided that the rooms were just much more appealing at the Marriott. Polo would have been fine, but when the Marriott availability opened up we jumped on it. FWIW both pools are open and they have a new fitness center that is supposed to be really nice. Good luck with your planning!

Bumping for suggestions

I would stay in Scottsdale and not Sedona. You can always take a day trip to Sedona. Both the Marriott and Westin are very nice. I'll let someone else speak about the Marriott, but Westin Kierland Villas is very nice and is in a good location. Have not stayed at Desert Oasis, but my understanding from this forum is that WKV is more upscale. Many people who own at SDO use it as a trader.
