Good evening all. We are lucky enough to have three weeks scheduled in Spain. Week one in Son Antem and the rest in Marbella Beach Club. Its time to submit my villa request and would appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance.

Can't figure out how to fix post title

As an owner at Son Antem, I will comment on that. The resort is built around the Golf course fairways of the east course. Each villa is a town house with 2 floors. There are 2 and 3 bed units. To access the upper floor you need to be able to handle stairs. There are two types of two bed unit, one has the master bedroom downstairs but the other has both bedrooms on the upper floor. The three bed units have the master bedroom downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs.

There are no ocean views, the resort is not close to the ocean. You WILL need a rental car which you should collect at the airport. Villa allocation is done only the day before arrival and you should get an email 2 weeks before arrival asking for preferences. Where you want to stay is a personal preference, we usually ask for a villa close to a pool and with a bedroom downstairs if we have guests but if not we ask for a unit with 2 bedrooms upstairs. Personal choice for us is a unit in the 7xx, 5xx or 8xx series of villas and we always avoid the units in the 3xx series but that is purely a personal choice.

One issue that you should take care with is security. The resort and golf courses is very large and the perimeter is difficult to secure as a result. Whilst security staff patrol the resort and golf courses 24X7, you are recommended to always secure the villa. This might seem obvious but guests do leave doors open when the are at the pool and that is just an invitation for theft. If you lose a room key card then report it and get the cards replaced with new codes.

Great information. I've seen pictures of a unit with a second floor balcony. Do all unit types have these?

Hi, in Son Antem we also ask for the 7XX villas, except usually go one further and ask for 711 to 719 becuase there is one pool for just one set of villas so it is usually quieter plus it is very near the facilities. However the other 7XXs are also great and the patios are south facing which is great for evening barbeques.
The 5xx and 6xxs are the oldest and i think have smaller gardens but are nearer the spa and tennis courts.
We don't like the 3xxs because they are along way from the main facilities but if you like peace this might be for you. Last time we were there maangement told us the French like these.

The 2 bed unit with a downstairs bedroom has a first floor terrace with two sun loungers, sun parasol and a table and 4 chairs.

The three bed unit has a first floor balcony to the third bedroom.

Hi Heather, do I remember rightly that the pool for villas 711-9 is different to all the others and has a shallow entry which would be good for some but less so for those wanting to swim lengths?

Thank you to all. I have submitted my request based on feedback. I thought it was nice that I could request to have a couple of things from the market place in the room. We have a very late arrival

That's good to know, I might request those when we're there next October.

Does anyone have any experience of the average weather in Mallorca in late October?

We were in Majorca mid October last year.
We moved on from Son Antem to a villa in the north to go walking in the Tramuntana mountains, expecting the weather to have cooled noticeably by then.
In fact, it was too hot for long walks (well into the 30s C) and we spent a fair amount of time in the pool!
I doubt these were average temperatures for this time of year though.

Thanks, I suspect you're right about those not being average temperatures. I've been reading conflicting descriptions, some say that it can be relatively rainy whilst others say that it's usually warm and sunny (admittedly those accounts were from tourist sites!).

Oh well, only another seven years of being tied to school holidays!

I wouldn't worry too much.
Kristin, the Courtesy Visit Supervisor, who is very helpful mentioned that October/November is a favourite period and the weather is normally very pleasant.
This summary from seemallorca.com seems to support this too.
WEATHER IN OCTOBER
Min. temperature: 16º C | Max. temperature: 23º C | Hrs of sunshine per day: 6-7 | No. of rainy days: 7
It's time to get back to enjoying outdoor pursuits as the weather in Mallorca during October has temperatures at a very pleasant mid 20º C's. Be aware that the Tramuntana mountains can create their own micro-climate and you may find it's slightly cloudier and wetter here than in other parts of Mallorca. You can still enjoy the beach in October, so don't rule Mallorca out for the half term holiday week.
