Hello,
Want to buy a set. Is the Polywood brand worth the $ as I see so many alternatives by other manufacturers at better prices. I need 4 so don't want to spend a fortune but also don't want to be disappointed with them years from now. Thank you.

IDK about the quality of the Adirondack chairs you are considering, but I chuckle at the current trend of placing them in groupings of 2 on the front lawns in our suburbs. Never do I see anyone sitting in them! So, if you are planning on using yours for the same purpose of yard decor, the quality is not a key issue.

Have you tried sitting in one? Some are very uncomfortable. My husband made us a set of four using directions from Norm from This Old House. They were at just the right angle. We left them behind when we sold our house. I’m looking for nice comfy rocking chairs, am considering rejoining Sams Club as they have their own brand of the teak rocking chairs we also had...but gave them to our daughter. Now those were really comfortable and the perfect rocker. Not liking the Cracker Barrel ones.
What are the chairs made of? Will they warp or fade from weather conditions? Check the reviews if available.

Pollywood is made from recycled plastic. I have been considering their 2 person glider but haven't taken the plunge yet

We bought wood “erector set” Adirondacks, with foot stools, at a hardware store about ten years ago. We like color, so gathered up all our paint cans from the last two homes and Cliff painted all the pieces different colors before he put them together. At the same time he took apart a bench we’d been toting from home to home and did the same paint job. He used primer first, and the paint was a mixture of interior and exterior. Last winter they were just starting to look weathered, and since we suspected we’d be moving, we dragged everything into the guest house to protect them for the first time from what little rain we get. Dragged them back out in late spring and I think they were an asset to showing off the backyard. No room for them in our new home so left them behind when we moved.

Usually accompanied by a sign made from a piece of barn wood by the front door

How often are you going to use the Adirondack chairs and where are you going to use & store the four (4) chairs? Outside on a deck or in an enclosed patio.
What is the cost difference?
Do you want to prime and paint the Adirondack chairs every two (2) to three (3) years?
Please sit down in a wooden Adirondack chair for more than 10 minutes.
Then sit in a pollywood chair for ten minutes.
Your final answer is?

I have a couple of plastic Adirondack on one of our decks. They look OK near the hot tub, but I have to say, if I settle down into one of them, it's reasonably comfortable, and the wide, flat arms make good drink holders, but when it's time to get out of the thing, I almost need a crane! They're too low to comfortably exit.

I bought a couple a few years ago from Winn Dixie, they had them outside near the carts. Only $14.00 they are plastic and we put seat cushions on them when we sit on them. They had several colors but we just bought green to match the other furniture on our screen porch.

Costco is selling good ones right now, but you need to do some light assembly. I've been happy with mine. They are the recycled plastic kind.

Just to be clear -- the Adirondack chairs made from recycled plastic and nothing like the $14 plastic chairs mentioned here. The recycled plastic versions are very heavy (the Costco versions are 45 lbs) and often more heavy and durable than wood versions. Those $14 versions are very lightweight and will blow over in a fair breeze. Those cheap ones are also probably only rated for 150 lbs, and will crumble if a larger person tries to sit in them. Apples and oranges comparison.

I made two adirondack chairs. They did look nice but they were too bulky, heavy and not as comfortable the padded patio furniture. After some years went by they looked nice in the fire pit.

I just ordered 2 polywood chairs and a side table for our front porch. My daughter last year bought a table and chairs for the table plus 4 Adirondack chairs for their fire ring. I spoke to a Polywood sales lady and she gave me names of three styles that were easiest to get out of for tall, older people. I wanted rocking chairs, but our porch slants a bit for water run off and I didn’t think the rockers would work

We have had the Costco heavy recycled plastic for a few years now at our cabin in northern mn. They are so popular with our crowd that I added 2 more last year so I could have a better chance at a seat.

I planned to buy covers for winter storage, but they actually recommend not covering. After 3 years outside 24/7/365, they are showing no signs of wear. This year I plan to add 4 more.

As for difficultly getting out of them, I would say they aren’t bad at all if you scoot your bum to the front edge and use the arms to help lift yourself up. At least it seems to work for our older generation at the lake.

The table is also nice to have, but we found the footstool was more in the way than useful and actually returned it after trying it for the first weekend.

Right now Costco has the 2 fan back chairs and side table from polywood for $399... about $140 less than the Polywood site
