Adding more points?

We currently own 5000 annual points at HGVC Las Vegas Flamingo. We'd like more points. Is it possible to buy another 5000 points at the Flamingo and permanently combine the points so we only pay one (low) maintenance fee? Or would we be stuck with two separate MF's?

You can buy more points (HGVC or affiliate).
The points will "combine" into one account and can be used/borrowed as one.
You will only pay 1 club fee
You WILL pay 2 MF's (HGVC or affiliate)

It may be cheaper to sell and rebuy a larger package with one (lower) MF.
If you buy affiliate points, you must pay the MF's prior to combining/using the points with HGVC points. (more info available from affiliate owners)
Due to recent/ongoing changes in ownership/affiliation, you may wish to consult the TUG HGVC experts on which affiliates might be affected by these changes.

Hope this helps.

You will have 2 MFs.

You could sell what you currently own and buy a single contract that has the total points you want, if you only want one MF. You'd need to sit down and do the math over a period of 10 years or so to see which is more financially friendly.

Thanks .... that's what I was afraid of .... do not want two MF's.

So, it's really not about "two MF's"

You need to compare the total cost owning two properties (with 2 MF's) for (example) 10000 points vs selling one property, buying another and paying 1 MF for 10000 points.

Over a longer period (10 years?) owning one property starts to be cheaper. For less than 10-12 years (???) it may be just as effective to own 2 properties and pay 2 MF's. Lots of factors YMMV. Depends on how efficient your current property is. Most owners sell at .90c pt (or less) for EY, .45c pt for EOY (just estimate) you can buy efficient properties at around $1 pt EY. Lots of threads about efficient MF/points properties.

Good luck. New thread today about somebody who used Ebay to sell. Check HGVC ROFR on thread to see current buying prices.

cheers.
