Adding Marriott Bonvoy Number to Interval Reservations

I have always added my Marriott Bonvoy number to my Interval reservations. A long time ago, I would call. But, for many years I have used marriott.com and simply added or changed the bonvoy number. However, with my latest Interval reservation, when I try to add my bonvoy number to the reservation on marriott.com, I get an error code (after many tries). I believe I saw another post (I think by Jeremy) mentioning the same thing. My ultimate question is whether anyone has figured out how to add the bonvoy number to Interval reservations now? I strongly prefer to put the number on in advance because I can then see the reservation in my bonvoy account and on the app. I've also had trouble getting the number added and staying added at the resort. Finally, I've been told no credit for interval stays after the fact when the bonvoy number was not on the folio (even though added at the resort).

So, any thoughts on how to get the bonvoy number added now?

I was having an issue the other day where I couldn't pick the checkin date, but that seems to be resolved. Though I am now getting this error message, which I have received before.

My suggestion is to use the mobile app. It is actually easier. When you look up the reservation and it isn't in My Trips, there is just a button to touch to add it.

I ran into this issue when booking a getaway for a friend. We were able to add the reservation number to his Bonvoy via chat.

I must be slow. I don't see Bonvoy chat when I log in. Can you help me find it?

Huh. Not sure what the issue is. I just checked on the app with one I need to add and it came right up with a black button at the bottom "Add to Trips" and I had no issues adding it to Trips. When did you confirm the Interval reservation?

I confirmed it on July 19. I waited a few days to check because I know that can take time. But, I think it should be OK by now, right? This was one of those new confirmations from II that didn't have the Marriott number on it. I got the confirmation number from Mark. But, I still can't get that number to work with my pc or app.

Not sure what the issue is. It should be in your name by now. I just added my Bonvoy number to two confirmations through the app. Are you on Apple or Android?

I figured it out!!! I am lifetime platinum. So, we have been running everything through my wife's bonvoy number so that she will be lifetime platinum too. I was trying to put the interval unit through to her account (which is what I have been doing for years on marriott.com). But, apparently, our interval account is in my name. Because when I tried to put the unit into my account using the app, it worked without problem. So, thank you for making it clear that it should work and forcing me to think about why it wasn't working for me.

Perhaps this will help someone else who may encounter this issue in the future . . . don't forget to try both spouses accounts if it doesn't work for one.

As always, thank for your help!

Glad you got it to work. You must have been using your account on Marriott.com as I get a different error message about the reservation not found if I try to look up a reservation and the name doesn't match.

You should create an II web profile for both you and your spouse. This way you can make the reservation under the appropriate account and the reservation should then have that member as the primary on the reservation. Sometimes I even use one of our free guest guest certificates (II Platinum gets five free) to switch a name on a reservation in order to be able to assign the reservation to the one we want to get the Bonvoy elite nights.

I have an II exchange and for some reason the reservation was in my name with a note stating that either my husband or I can check in. I wanted the reservation in my husband's name with his bonvoy number. I just went to the Marriott reservation, changed the guest name and added the bonvoy number. The reservation then appeared as an up coming reservation on my husband's account. I was surprised that I was able to change the name of the guest.

I forgot about that. Though I also thought perhaps that wasn't possible now since they removed the ability to modify guest names on Marriott.com. I can't even check right now because of the error message I get when trying to lookup a reservation on Marriott.com. I also can't find a way to modify a reservation on the app to see if I could change the name there.

When I try to change the guest on marriott.com, it will allow me to change the guest name and contact information. However, it will not allow me to change the bonvoy number. The bonvoy number is now an unchangeable field.

My biggest concern was having the reservation in an account where I could see it. Now that I have that in my account, I suspect that I should be able to change the bonvoy number to my wife and checkin.

Once the Bonvoy number has been attached, there isn't a way to change it.

Yes, it’s always been that way. I once made a mistake when putting my husband’s number in. I couldn't correct the mistake Online!

So, in my case, the only way I could get the reservation into either my account or my spouse’s was to put it in mine. As a result, I’m locked in until we check in. And, then I am at the mercy of the desk clerk. That hasn’t always worked well…. Oh well, I’m just happy to have the reservation in something I can see.

Right now, given the inability to bring the reservation up on Marriott.com, there was no way to change the name to your spouses name. If the website were working, you could have potentially edited the names on the reservation at the time you added the Bonvoy number and used your spouse's information for both. Unfortunately, I don't think any of this is possible on the mobile app.

I just booked my first exchange into a Marriott property (Oceana Palms), but don't seem to have the option to add the II confirmation number in my mobile app.

I do not own in the MVC or Vistana system. Could this be why?

Is there an alternative way to add it to my Bonvoy account?

I was also going to ask if a unit view code would show up in any of my confirmations or in my Bonvoy account - assuming I get it added.

You need the Marriott Bonvoy confirmation number. Not all II confirmations contain this information. If it is there, it appears under the unit details. It will be eight digits usually beginning with a 7, 8 or 9.

As for view code, until you can look up the reservation online you can lookup the Unit Number (code) in your History on the II website and compare it to this list.

Only an 8 digit II code seems to be included - it begins with 28xxxxxx

I'll wait a few days and then try calling to property to see if they have the Bonvoy confirmation number.

When you say "just emailing Interval", what email address did you use? Or did you just reply to the confirmation email?
