Acapulco: MP vs. GM

Hi all,

This may sound like a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway. The MP is offering its members a free GM upgrade. We've never been to Acapulco (so far, we've only been to RM).

It would seem an upgrade to the Grand Mayan would be a slam dunk. However, I know Vidanta just built a brand new Mayan Palace building there.

Would there be any reason not to take the (free) Grand Mayan upgrade?

I received same email. No reason to not take advantage.
Remember if u don't use they get nothing. This way they get a maintainence fee. I would do it but can't right now.

No reason not to take the upgrade. I love the MP in Acapulco and have not stayed in the newest one, but have stayed in the newer one that is not on the beachfront property and it was really nice. I have heard that the new tower building is super. But, we really do like the larger decks on the GM units and like to spend time there. Our family loved it the week we all went there. Acapulco MP was where we first bought and has a special place in our hearts. We loved the old buildings and have since upgraded from MP to GM and now to GL.

Bottom line - you cannot go wrong with either choice.

As a MP owner, I did not get this offer. However, after not going to Acapulco since 2004, we are going this January having traded other weeks through RCI for the GM.

We're taking advantage of the upgrade, and will be spending a week at the GM Acapulco. Even though we've owned since 2001, we've ONLY been to RM, so this will be an interesting change. (We simply love PDC, the warm water, beach, etc., so haven't come up with a reason to try another MP!)

I'll gladly share my thoughts once we're back.

í believe if you dont take they offer you 150 usd resort credit you can call them to ask i call and they offer this for riviera maya and i believe acapulco now its not so full like riviera maya so they may offer this, just call and ask there its still the promo of 150 usd resort credit or upgrade free? if they ask where you take this say this was telled when you call to check a date

I hadn't heard about the 150 dollar credit. Still, I'm looking forward to trying out the Grand Mayan. After 15 years in the Mayan Palace, it will be interesting to see if better accommodations have any bearing on our vacation experience.
