Next week I will be at Ocean Point. I would be celebrating my 9th wedding anniversary. I would like to hear some suggestion where I can take my dear wife for a great dinner (away from the kids, those precious 2 hours). I am not thinking about a fancy restaurant, but a nice place with some good food, maybe a local restaurant, not a place for tourists.

Any suggestions?

We were at Ocean Point in early November. A great Italian place was Noche's, the concierge at Ocean Pointe suggested it. Not to sound cheap for your anniversary dinner...but the meals there were half priced (drinks too) from 5-7PM. We made a reservation for 6:30 and that "locked in" our half price deal yet we weren't eating too early. They have tables (white linen, very nice) by the windows that are separated by sheer white curtains, which gives you some privacy. We went there with another couple and had a great time, very good food. I think our total bill was $120 for 4, and that included several drinks/wine. It's kind of in a mall, so at first you're thinking this can't be that great, but it was. About a 15-20 minute drive from Ocean Pointe. We also spent two evenings in downtown West Palm Beach, they have both higher end and middle range restaraunts. They have a bar/burger place called "Grease" that was lots of fun (huge burgers and great cheese fries), and a Mexican place called "Rocco's Taco's". Nice as high-end as Noche's, but louder, younger crowds with good food as well.

If you like steak try Ruth's Chris or Morton's. If you like Italian try Carmine's. If you like fish it's the Reef Grill or the Key Grill. I went to a great Mexican restaurant that is about a mile past the Garden Mall on PGA but I can't remember the name of it.

All the restaurant's will be on their winter pricing menu so don't expect to see any half price deals. Noche's is owned by Carmine's. I didn't care for it but it gets great reviews. It's more of a bar with dancing and live music than a restaurant. Fun place to go though.

I highly recommend Carmine's. I have never heard of anyone being disappointed with their food and service, while some of the others have had mixed reviews. Carmine's also has an excellent gourmet market next door, which is great for shopping for food to bring back to OP. If you like wine, there is a Total Wine store on PGA blvd in one of the shopping centers. There is nothing better than enjoying a nice glass of wine on your balcony with food from Carmines market.

Suggest Seasons 52 on PGA. Very upscale and romantic. Reasonably priced. You will need a reservation.

The Okechobee Steak House - it is on Okechobe Blvd. in Palm Beach. The concierge can give you directions. We celebrated our anniversary there 2 years ago - food is delicious. Hubby has a steak -said every bit as good as Ruth Chris. I had stuffed shrimp that was excellent. I also had a Key Lime Martini that was to-die-for. Not cheap, but not nearly as expensive as Ruth Chris (and yes we've eaten at the one in West Palm). OP concierge can also give you pricing and menu selections. Enjoy and Happy Anniversary!!

I second Morton's. It was the first one of the chain I went to and while I've been to others since, the one (relatively) near OP is the best IMO. Nice area to walk in too before or after dinner.

For an anniversary you might want to consider lunch or dinner at The Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach. Excellent food, good service, terrific view (on the ocean) while enjoying the great ambiance of this historic and beautiful hotel. A word of caution: It's not cheap but worth it in my opinion. Especially if you have not been there before.

There is lovely restaurant across from Jupiter Light House. Don't recall the name but concierge would know. Food was good, not GREAT but if you reserve an outside table w/lighthouse view, it can't be beat. Come on Tuggers, help me out here :)

There's actually 2 right next to each other. I have eaten at both - both are good. One is The Crab House (it is part of a chain) and the other is Jetty's. Jetty's has a more upscale ambiance. Not sure if the price is comparative because we did the Easter buffet at The Crab House.

First of all, thanks everybody for the suggestions. They look so nice that I told my wife that our night out will be in fact a teenager party, those parties that goes on and on for days, because we have to go to all those restaurants.

Ocean Pointe/Oceana Palms Restaurant Update

These are my comments regarding the restaurants we visitted during our week at Oceana Palms (11/1-11/6/2010).

Pelican Grill: (US 1 about 2 miles north of Blue Heron)
We had very good dinner and have heard that breakfasts are even better.
Italian and European. Sole Provencale and crab cakes were excellent. Prices were in $20-30 range, but some pastas were less expensive. Family owned.

Bonefish (Carry-out)
Excellent seafood and house salad($2.80 with entree). Reliable. Prices $15-20
Conveniently located near Publix. We like to order carry-out and enjoy on balcony.

Carmine's La Trattatoria
This is always one of our favorites. We ate outside overlooking the marina. Good wine list with some moderately priced options. Most seafood and beef selections are $29.50. Beef/veal include salad, but seafood items don't???
My wife had excellent yellow tail special, I had Osso Bucco, and daughter had a fabulous 10 oz. filet. Since we live in Kansas, I seldom eat steak at restaurants, but will definitely get the filet on my next visit. The wine list I was given listed a Stag's Leap cab on special for $40, so I ordered a bottle. When I received the bill I was charged $85. After a long wait for the manager, he finally admitted it was their mistake and that I had been given the wrong wine list. I was disappointed with his attitude, but he corrected the bill. We will definitely go back, but I will be careful regarding ordering wine. Overall, Carmine's prices are not that much higher than most other restaurants in the area, and our dinners are always excellent.

Solu (Marriott Singer Island Resort)
We had our best meal here, using a dinner for 2 certificate. Prices were in the $25-32 range, but food quality, presentation, portions, and service were outstanding. We had grouper and yellow tail specials. The dining room overlooks the ocean, although it was dark when we ate there. Our waiter was also the wine manager, and recommended an excellent red zin for about $40 per bottle (probably about $25 retail so not a bad markup). Most wines were $9-15 per glass, but I noticed that they were not skimpy on their pours (probably about 8oz. vs the 5oz at many restaurants today).

Max & Eddies (carryout pizza)
We previously enjoyed excellent meals at this restaurant, but business and service has declined over the past few years. I was disappointed to see the place empty on a Friday night when I picked up my pizza. I think they still have great NY style pizza, and use homemade italian sausage which is lean and flavorful. I continue to recommend their pizza, but would not be surprised if they go out of business in the near future. The delay in the redevelopment of the surrounding area has really hurt them.

Oceana Palms Restaurant/Bar
My daugter had an excellent mahi mahi sandwich for $11 including fries or fruit salad. The bar had a happy hour every day 3-5pm and 7-9pm with 1/2 price drinks. Pool service was also very good.

I second The Breakers ... in particular The Seafood Bar.

Casual. Reservations not accepted. They validate your valet parking. And if you get there early enough for dinner ... say, before 6pm ... you can grab a window table about 15 feet from the ocean.

When you're done eating, spend as much time as you like wandering around this spectacular property. That's when you'll discover just how 'middle class' Marriott timesharing really is. :)

Happy Anniversary!

If you're talking about the Crab House, quality has really gone down. We had the worst meal of our trip there this time around. It use to be good. This was our fifth time there but, it was also our last.

Jetty's, which is right next door, was very good the one time we ate there and, their parking lot was packed (Crab Houses parking lot was empty). I assume it's still good and, they have some outdoor seating. The one time we went outdoor seating was limited and very popular. It's one of the reasons we kept returning to the Crab House.

Crab House has a much larger outdoor seating area and a great view of the Jupiter Lighthouse. Based on our trip there this past Thursday, there's no way I'd recommend it for an aniversary dinner

Just noticed the original post is from Dec. 2009 I'm not certain how relivant this is anymore.

We really like Couco Pazzo Italian Bistro in Lake Worth. It's northern Itailian food. IMHO they have great risotto It's about a 20 minutes or so south of OP. 915 Lake Ave 561-585-0320.
A local resident who's husband is a chef recomended it to us. We try to go every year.
We also really like the Riverhouse. We usually go there when the kids are at kids night out. It's not kid friendly but nice if you can get a table by the water. They have a big salad bar. Not cheap but I think it's worth the money.

FYI the restaurant at the Breakers is incredibly expensive. We are from NY and are used to expensive restaurants but were blown away by the prices. We had lunch there which was very good but it was alot more than we normally pay for dinner, and we were not stuffed when we left.
