A hypothetical qustion..

So sorry to see you feel this way. My wife & I have been using this hypothetical for many years in talking with engaged couples to emphasize the importance and need of communication, and having the complete picture before offering judgements. Many couples eyes light up, and offer "wow, I never really thought about it like that".
LOL! Ok, it is a cool lesson put in that context.

Last Tuesday I picked up a small dog from the road. It was early morning, 27 degrees, and the poor thing was trying to cross a busy highway. It was shivering and its feet were bleeding. I immediately took photos and posted an ad on Craigslist. I had to leave it in the house while I went to work ... so wrote an email to my husband to warn him of a stray dog barricaded, best I could, in the kitchen.

He called me and began to gave me lots of grief for stealing someone's dog. I tried to explain the circumstances (on the highway, bleeding feet, looking very lost and frightened, etc.) but he got pretty upset at me.

Gladly he gave me a chance, "What were you thinking?" allowing me to explain my morning: I killed a bird while driving, my horse had taken a bad fall during her morning workout and then ... "the dog." All that before 7AM. Ah, he exhaled and said he understood.

So glad he made space to take in my side of the story!

Later that day my SIL phoned: Mom didn't seem "quite right." I left the office, picked up my middle brother from his job and we both took Mom to ER where she was admitted for several days. So that whole day was very strange. And ... now ... I have a dog. Hmmmm. :\

Oh well..

I hope a few others accepted the message, and maybe even learned something. We never stop learning.

I think this was fun AND it's a good way to show not to jump to instant conclusions.
:hi: :hi:

Seems you assumed many would be interested because we are active in other topics/threads . . . and that we are here to "learn". LOL

I prefer to not deal in hypotheticals as they are rarely good predictors of actual behavior. In HR management we encourage hiring managers to refrain from engaging in "What if" scenario interviewing as the better question to ask in order to anticipate behavior is to ask a "Give me an example when . . . " scenario question.

That said, I suppose if it helps young people before getting married good for them. I guess I'm just a cynic today.

I would also give wackymother the gold-star.
Nothing in the hypothetical preculed a conditional acceptance, which is what "maybe" implies.

Hypothetically, I would have responded:
"You must be out of your f*king mind. I know some M/H pros who can help you."
