Wow. But it's not like they were gonna be rented anytime soon.
OTOH, there may be a shortage that drives up prices down the road (so to speak).

It was very visible from our subdivision, enormous black cloud of smoke

I doubt they would have had a field full of cars without the shutdown.

The auto companies will love it. They are probably knocking each other over right now with proposals to the rental companies for cheap auto purchases. I dare say they aren't selling many cars now or in the near future.

Does any know the cause or how this fire started?

The field caught fire, which it does in Florida during the dry season. We have not had much rain at all this winter. There are times in April that you can smell smoke every day as the interior of Florida catches fire.

Florida also does a lot of controlled burns
I live here and notice fires all the time but none in the past decade that I personally noticed were accidental
I’m sure it happens. But Florida does keep the wild in check

I once called in a ROW fire and saw a partly burned cigarette butt.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was a smoker.

No controlled burn this time, it was on the news again last night. I wouldn’t be surprised if they discover a cigarette
