A book about using HGVC

This comment in the book is impressive:

With 17 presentations under our belts, this approach has generated 2,600,000 Hilton Honors points.

This is in the 2 years since they have owned.
 
17 sales presentations and have gotten 2,600,000 H Honors points? That's an average of 153,000 per presentation. I say, no way that is accurate. Maybe with charging retail purchases to a credit card included. I've done over 180 sales presentations.
 
Well, I'm not paying $23 or getting Kindle Unlimited to read it. And no way I'd put myself through the torture of that many sales presentations just to get HH points.
 
I have $6.50 in ecredits on amazon so can grab it for $3.50 on kindle. I'll give it a shot. Agree with cd5 on not wanting to sit through anywhere close to that many sales presentations.
 
If they decoded all of HGV’s different systems, that would really be something. Sounds like based on your comments it was just HGVC. Does the book solve the mystery of HGV Max?

Glad another entity has found a way to benefit from brand confusion.

Maybe @Clifbell will write something. HGV and the timeshare RV?

no. It goes through their experience and how they have maximized the system with tips on resale and using the system. They don't touch as much on the broader "new" HGV compared to pre-Diamond since they came into the system since that has occurred. A book about the whole HGV ecosystem would be much bigger and there is much that could be added but they are just sharing their first 2 years and what they have learned....to help others

The 2,600,000 points figure makes more sense with context.

That total combines two strategies covered in the book: points earned from attending presentations and points accumulated through our Hilton Surpass card. Our average across the 17 presentations was 120,000 points per presentation. The remaining points accumulated over two years of Surpass card spend, including a portion of our original New York City property purchase, which we charged to the card during an interest-free period.

On presentations specifically, we have a firm personal threshold. We only attend for Hilton Honors points, no Visa cards, no cash, no resort credits. We target 150,000 points per presentation and will negotiate down to 100,000. Below 100,000, we decline. The opening offer is typically somewhere between 50,000 and 70,000 points, so there is always a conversation.

Last week at La Pacifica we received 150,000 points. This week at Cabo Azul we received 100,000. Both cleared our floor.

The book lays out the full framework, including what we ask for, how we negotiate, and what we walk away from.

We stayed at CA and took the resort credit of $300 but, in retrospect, should have asked for HH points. If we could have gotten 150k, then it would have covered, at least, a couple nights in the hotel. We were just in Manila and stayed at both the Hilton and the Conrad on HH points, 55k/night....so that would cover 2 nights and each night is about $300 for the cash price so a better deal than the resort credit.
