7 Costs to Eliminate Before You Retire

Interesting article. Some of it doesn't apply as much to me because of the US/Canada investment tax thing I think, but looks like we're on track as much as we can be at this point.

I always appreciate these little tidbits you post. I must confess I don't read them all but do look at a good number of them. With such a wide spectrum of interests on this BBS, I'm sure they're all appreciated by some part of the population.

We did a pretty good job of clearing these before I retired. My pickup is older than I'd like, but after looking at newer ones, I couldn't see spending $25k or more on top of it for something not significantly better. Getting rid of the RV would eliminate a whole mess of non-productive expenses, but DW's not ready to do that yet.

The wild card for all (U.S.) retirees is health care. With our fee-for-service system, there's just no way to put a fixed cost on it and budget for it.

The referenced article gives an outline for asking one's self how prepared he-or she is for retirement.

Hmmm? I didn't see sell or give your timeshares away on the list! LOL!

You don't see alcoholics getting rid of their booze or junkies quitting dope for economic reasons either, do ya? Face it, timesharing is addictive.... Jim

No No

You have it all wrong, you need to have at least 50 week of timeshare when you retire, and then you dont have a house payment and think of all the great places you can go. :hysterical:
