Decided to convert my usage into points to see what I can do with them. I banked some for 2025 and saved some for this year. Being the poor planners that we are, it's now almost December and I realized I have 450 points that will expire soon.

Any suggestions? I would even donate them to someone who needs some/charity .

Can post them in this thread if you are gifting them for free….

[Moderator Note: A reminder that the TUG Rules do not allow rent/sale ads in the public forums. The only exception for Marriott points/weeks/owner reservations is if usage is being offered for free (meaning absolutely zero compensation asked or offered,) which can be facilitated through the thread linked above and copied here: FREE USAGE of Marriott Timeshares From Owners. To my eye this thread was trending too close to ad-like activity so I'm deleting all of the responses except the two containing info related to how to use expiring points/weeks.] <-- SueDonJ

Does someone post in that actual thread you linked, or is there a separate giveaway thread? Or did no one ever post a free giveaway in well over a year? All I see is a lot of comments about the thread. It is very confusing.

Following, as I regularly have 0-200 excess points expire every year. Would be happy to give them to a fellow TUGer

HI, I have a timeshare booked at the end of the year that I have tried to rent. These are 2024 points. If I cancel that and reference the document posted, can I convert the points to the airline miles and then their use is based on the airline program and not Marriott end of year expiration?

That's the thread designed to be used for any free usage giveaways, and no, I don't remember seeing any offers like that after it was started. As an owner, though, I don't expect many free offers, certainly not like the expectation when COVID-related cancellations happened. But as moderator it's the thread I plan on using to merge into it any free offers that are posted elsewhere.

If this is a serious offer for points expiring this year, please consider posting in the thread I linked above or I can move your post to it if you'd like?

Thank you. We always seem to end up with stray extra points if we elect, and it seems others do as well. Sometimes we need a few extra to round out a last minute reservation.

I was just lost on that thread as it seemed to just be describing a different thread and its rules. The resulting comments seemed the same. Maybe all the comments after the rules could be removed and a new comment added saying something like
\/ PLEASE POST ANY FREE OFFERS BELOW. \/

I’m not asking for anything in return so not an ad. I'm just clueless when it comes to what to do with points and very bad at planning ahead.
I checked link regarding giving points but didn’t really see other posts so wasn't sure how it works. Please go ahead and move my post there (although I've already told davidvel I'm giving him some).

Dioxide, I appreciate your link. How would expiring points work for II? I don't have enough anyway if minimum is 1000.

Tried transferring online. Seems like I can't for some reason so looks like they're just going to be wasted like Marriott counts on.
I'll try and call to see if I'm doing something wrong

if they are not holding points, and if you have another 50 points laying around, then use them for an airline certificate instead of just letting them expire. You should be able to get something for 500 Club Points. If you golf and go to FL, then you can buy a golf certificate for 425 Club Points (holding points are not eligible) and you receive a certificate good for one year good at the Marriott Golf Academy in Orlando.

Thanks for the info.

I just spent a hour with a vacation services member trying to transfer points over to someone (unsuccessfully) but seems like this would be the last second best use. 8000 frequent flyer miles on United or Hawaiian Airlines for 500 vacation club points.

Are you points banked from a prior year, transferred or in a Holding Account? That is the only reason you shouldn’t be able to transfer them.

Apparently they might be transferred from a friend although I honestly can't remember. I needed points to try and reserve a few days back in Jan for a ski trip and also had some points for Dec 2023 but can't recall how the points were divided. At this point, will look again for staycation at the one destination near by or see if I can borrow from my 2025 to get to minimum level for frequent flyer miles. All of this definitely has made it easy for me to say no for any further sales pitches even if they offered to sell them to me for 25% of current prices!

Looking at my prior posts, turns out, I gave some points away end of 2023 (although had much less left over last year). I'm going to get cracking now for 2025 elected points
