My HOA is offering 4% off my $800 maintenance fees if I pay them in October. The money is in the bank drawing a measley 1% or less these days. 4% for a 90 day investment on $800 sounds pretty good, uh? What would you do?

I would probably pay early since our MF's are also sitting in a bank not gaining much interest anyway.
If your home resort is a small independent, I would also try to find out if they are in any sort of financial trouble that is prompting the request for money early.

City doing it also...

Our city is also doing the same thing for its taxes due. If I pay my city taxes early, they will take off 1% as they always need to borrow a tax anticipation note to cover expenses until taxes are collected. It's kind of a win-win situation.

I did...

What would I have done? I would have already prepaid them so I could deposit my week 9+ months out. ;)

Great idea. Just what I did just that last year and had enough II banked weeks to get what I needed to plug my 2011 needs. Now that they will be paid ahead of time, I will start working on 2012 needs as they pop up.

Great minds think alike.
