There's a website where you can check if your information was exposed in this hack:
npd.pentester.com
Simply enter your first and last name, state, and year of birth. The search will instantly look for your info in the billions of records leaked online in this massive
data breach. The search is free. You do
NOT need to enter any other confidential personal information (such as a Social Security number).
Yup, they got me. (But I already knew that. There was a fraudulent application for state disability insurance in my name in 2021 as well as a fraudulent credit card application.)
And yup, my wife's information was exposed as well.
Our credit has been frozen for several years. I also make it a habit to go to annualcreditreport.com every 4 months to check a free credit report for both of us, rotating between the Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion reports. This way I get one free credit report annually from each of the 3 major agencies.
Now here's one you probably don't know about. There are lesser known credit agencies in addition to the big 3. Clarity (now a division of Experian) is involved in payday loans, and you can request a credit freeze there as well. Visit
https://www.clarityservices.com/support/security-freeze/ to submit a freeze to prevent subprime loans from being opened. When I tried to freeze my credit online at Clarity back in 2021, the website was unable to proceed and I received a message to submit a written request.
