The American Express Business Gold card is offering up 25,000 Membership Rewards point afters your first purchase. 25,000 Membership Rewards points can be redeemed for $250 in gift cards OR a domestic airline ticket (and even statement credits)!

I saw it when I rec'd my Airfare Watchdog alert today but after reading about it, I don't think it applies to Canadians. Too bad, its an offer for a free flight since the first year membership is waived. And...it doesn't seem to matter if you already have a personal Amex card.

I just received my card but it says I get 5,000 Membership Rewards with the first purchase - not 25,000. Anyone know anything about this??
 
Yah- the language on the offer is very vague- says you "may" earn up to 25,000 points. 5,000 come with the first purchase on the card, the other 20,000 come from spending 20,000 and then yet another 10,000 come from renewing the card next year after paying the fee. Boo, hiss
 
I got the same information 5000 points, so I called customer service they bounced around for awhile..tried to tell me that you're required to spend 20000 first and I pointed them to web site. They talked with someone came back and said yes you are correct you will get 25,000 points bonus. Period.
 
Can you please give me the link to the website you sent them to? I can't seem to get to the correct one!! TIA :ignore:
 
Today I finally called to tell them I was not activating my card because of the questionable language and the duplicitious nature of their advertising. (In fact, all 4 of us in the fam got these cards.) The agent said the 25,000 stands. She said the promo lit which comes with the cards does not state it correctly and they have had numerous calls and are happy to straighten it out. YES, 5,000 miles upon activation and then 20,000 upon first purchase. No problem- that is the promotion and I did not even have to fight for it. Then, hubby called and he got the same info from another agent- 25,000 is the promo. Blondie

Apply for the Business Gold Rewards Card and make a purchase by 12/31/07. Upon the Basic Cardmember's first purchase, a one time bonus of 25,000 points can be earned toward the Basic Business Gold Rewards Cardmember's Membership Rewards® account and may appear as separate credits of 5,000 and 20,000 bonus points.
