[ 2024 ] It's Official - New Hyatt Vacation Club Coming to Orlando

I could be misremembering but someone posted here that Marriott was selling Abound points at a Hyatt property. I thought that was really odd. I'll try to find it.

Sounds like sales shark misinformation .... ;)

Where is this going to be exactly?

I misremembered... I found the link and it was a Marriott sales team selling Hyatt points ... Unless OP was mistaken.

The OP in that thread was staying at a Hyatt Resort and they tried to sell him Hyatt points. He was not staying at a Marriott resort as they cannot sell Hyatt at Marriott resorts or vice versa. All of the sales people are employees of Marriott Vacations Worldwide which is the company that owns the Marriott, Hyatt, Westin, Sheraton, etc Vacation Clubs.

I seem to recall some speculation that they would try to sell the HRC stuff until they picked up Welk. Might be that combining HRC and Welk and putting in a location in Orlando with sales is part of a grand scheme to put together an attractive package for a sale. That does make it a more self-sustaining business unit.

Without doubt, Orlando would be a target rich enviroment to sell Portfolio. The sales pitch would be two-fold: a shiny new Timeshare but heavy emphasis on all the other Hyatt TS resorts. What a deal to stay in Arizona, Cali, Maui, Texas, Colorado and south Florida all for a few Portfolio points. Step right up and throw $45,000 on the table and it's all yours!

I think it's pretty likely the sales pitch emphasizes the low monthly payment not the $45k upfront cost.

They have to have a great sales pitch as they are competing with 80 time share resorts in Orlando. Hyatt typically set themselves aside as they are generally the sole time share resort (or company) in each locality.

Start listening at the 50 second mark.
International Drive, near Orlando World Center Marriott and the three Marriott Palms' timeshares

Welp, it seems this resort may have hit the chopping block. Marriott Vacations Worldwide indicated on their 4th quarter earnings call that they have decided to not develop their Hyatt branded property in Orlando at this time.

Unfortunate, but not surprising...

How often are the Palms available on Getaways.... Orlando is oversaturated with timeshares as it is...

That said, I'd love a Hyatt in that area.... I just don't think it makes sense... It seems to me MVC really doesn't know what to do with Hyatt...
