I got a couple of emails from a Ryan Bishop of Timeshare Broker Services telling me that he/they have a client wanting to buy my timeshare.
Any experiences from TUG members on this experience?
Please advise. Thank you for your cooperation in advance.

Could be a scam. Just don’t pay any money since you’re the seller. Definitely a scam if they ask for any type of payment.

There are many, although they usually start out with an unsolicited phone call. It looks like some of these scam operations are using e-mail now too.

Besides the upfront fee that pacman777 mentioned above, did this company promise you big bucks beyond your wildest dreams for the sale of this TS?

Seriously? Who would they have who contacted THEM to buy YOUR timeshare? WHY would anyone want to buy YOUR timeshare? It is 100% certain a scam. Not even 99%...

I bought a HGVC deed through a Ryan Bishop in late 2021/early 2022. Not sure whether or not this is a scam, but do you have something listed for sale anywhere?

I ended up being contact by him from an inquiry I made to a listing on SMTN.

Did you ask the caller what timeshare?

I love these guys (roofers, house painters, tree service, etc.) that call and say, "We're going to be in your area doing . . . ." Me: "Oh, yeah? What area is that?"

Hi @robertg1us
Timeshare Brokers Services and SMTN are connected companies / websites - so the information from @BingoBangoBongo aligns.

Timeshare Brokers Services website says : "No Upfront Fees if your Property Qualifies "
[ PS- I wonder what Timeshares Qualify / I would assume positive $ value helps = (ie) Marriotts -HGVC's etc.]

*********
Please note - beyond this & some additional info I will post regarding these timeshare websites- I have no knowledge on the quality of services offered.
Various TUG members have posted that they did acquire resale timeshares through SMTN and TBS.

Have you ever contacted them or SMTN to inquire about selling or that you owned a certain resort. Cold calls are scams but it is possible this isn't a cold call if you have had communication with them before.

Anyone cold-calling/emailing you is a scam.

Mystery solved! The OP mentions a TS they are considering for sale.

Anyone cold-calling/emailing you is a scam.
Please read the rest of the thread. While I agree with the cold call = scam premise.
this thread may actually may be about a real estate agent that works for a US based company that lists TS resales doing "follow up calls"
(ie) similar to -you wrote your name & contact number down at a real estate agent's open house.....

That said : always use due diligence in anything that involves money.

Ryan Bishop is licensed in Florida, have spoken with him a few times. He comes back to me with random offers because I started exploring Grand Vista with him before I found TUG and learned I'd be market blocked in trading Orlando because I own DVC. The only challenge I see with their "broker" set up - and I know everyone has to get paid are the fees... they are exorbitant... For a $3200 week at Gold Point their fees were $1500+ I called him off the hunt for a timeshare week for me earlier this week.

Using lead lists I guess from that Sellmytimeshare site and the Timeshare Broker Services site I assume he is working both ways via the database... has a buyer and wants to find a seller or has a seller and is working with an available inventory list to try and find buyers.

Closing costs were $1,532! $699 TCS Deeding/Recording, $85 Resort’s Transfer Fee, $748 Admin Fee

I don't think he's going to charge you anything but with a company like LT Transfers being able to manage the process for a fraction of that... listing on redweek or here seems like a good place to start?

and they literally share the same building.... (and owners)

Vacation innovations was founded by Chad Newbold and Scott Roberts. (of VINinc/Timeshare Closing Services/Timeshare Relief fame)

which bought SMTN a few years back, and the CEO of SMTN is...Chad Newbold

all 3 share the same address/building in Orlando. (same address for vininc/TCS/timesharerelief/etc)

and the wheels on the bus go round and round....

You could buy a Marriott Grande Vista unit and avoid any regional trading restriction (i.e. trading in Orlando) as long as you buy a Grande Vista Villa which is a member of the Florida Club.

You may want to investigate the Florida Club further by searching "Florida Club" on Marriott threads for a full explanation. Grande Vista Villas are great for trading or using.

I made an offer to buy a listing on SMTN and Timeshare Closing Services did the follow up on my offer and completed the sale. They are the same company. These companies can be great for BUYING but not for selling. I found out that the deal I got for $1000 plus about another $1500 in baloney closing fees... the seller had to pony up an additional $2500 to close. So the listing folks got five grand plus the initial listing fee. Its a total scam for the seller. I got a resort membership that I wanted for vastly less than the sellers $25k to buy it. They only got a sale because they were realistic about what the resale value was, there are many for my resort drinking Kool Aid that there is appreciation in timesharing.

The OP asked about Timeshare Closing Services... Im sure they cold call to find listings, or follow up when you crawl their listings or website. They are legit but not a good deal at all for sellers in my opinion.

now in 2026, and the same individual is sending the same emails almost word for word to owners....fascinating! (one member just forwarded me one today!)
