That is correct, guests at the Westin Mission Hills Resort VIllas (timeshare) no longer get access Westin Mission Rancho Mirage hotel. The hotel is still a Westin brand and still managed by Westin Resorts, but it is under different ownership and they opted to not allow access to guests staying at the timeshare. It has been like this for a few years now. I beleive there is a lot of discussion in this thread in the Vistana forum. My family I when to the Westin in palm desert to discove that the hotel is no longer part of the Westin or the Marriott.
anyone know why.

I think there is a charge for parking. I suspect that parking would be behind gated access. A quick Google search turned this hotel up on Parkopedia where you can book it for $8 for 2 hours.Yeah, here right now (mission hills) and they say at the desk that negotiations are not active, no deal at this time. Guess that agrees with the board.
Does anyone here know if the hotel uses parking passes? I.e., would they know if I parked over there as a villas customer. They have some nema 14-50 connectors I could use outside the parking garage, but not sure if they are hotel guests only. If they don't use parking passes, then must not be.

Yeah, the hotel hopes they can extract money from the HOA (owners) through an agreed upon usage fee and have them buy their expensive food too. Then when they add new amenities they want to charge daily fees instead of just extending good will and renegotiating terms of the deal the next time around. Thus the owners generally don't have good will and won't pay the daily fees. The reciprocity between timeshares and an upscale hotel property nearby is never a deeded right and more of an agreement between resorts (probably in exchange for cash). A developer will initiate that during the sales process in order to promote sales. I still remember how they hyped up the St. Regis access at WPORV when we were there about 15 years ago. MVC has also done it with access to various JW Marriott or Ritz hotels nearby like Crystal Shores at Marco Island or Lakeshore Reserve in Orlando.
However, once a resort sells out the interests are not always aligned. Most timeshare owners are interested in access to the pool area or lazy rivers and such, while the hotel wants those guests to spend money at restaurants, spas and shopping. The hotel will always reserve the right to restrict access for timeshare guests during "busy times" - and if they don't get enough benefit from the relationship (I suspect most timeshare owners don't generally spend much money at St. Regis or Westin restaurants), then these types of agreements may not last too long after a resort is sold out.

I will have to see if I can dig up some video on it, but I am pretty sure it is fortified now with a chain link gate and no way to just walk around.Resurrection of this thread for Westin Mission Hills - is the pathway permanently blocked, can you walk around it, does anyone have a 2024 status? The Mr. has a conference at the resort and there is a cheap AC for the villas.
