[ 2021 ] Vidanta Deluxxe

Those of you that have some familiarity with this "upcoming" remodel of the Grand Mayan closest to the beach, I have a couple questions:

1) Would this, if I 2 bdr/3 bath, over 3000 sq foot unit be considered an upgrade or downgrade from Grand Luxxe Master Suite? It IS right on the water, but apparent does not have option for lockoff (an extra door), but does offer priority booking even at Grand Luxxe.

2) Also concerned about access only to the new pool for the building vs. the many pool options and quiet of the Grand Luxxe pools, and am trying to figure this out.

3) Lastly, has anyone actually had other timeshares cancelled, once they pay the approx $1800 fee per timeshare contract, that's used to "bargain down" the price?

Anyone have an idea what an upgrade to this from Vidanta should/would cost?

Thanks!

Trade in's - are always smoke and mirrors.
The price you pay is based on the Vida Sales brand price grid. They do not want your timeshare trade in. It is a way to remove an objection to buying.

None are cancelled for $ 1800. There are reports of "success" in them leaving some folks possession. You are paying $ 1800 to have a third party list them on
e-Bay or similar. for $ 1. I would try the TUG give away sub forum or TUG Marketplace.

Here is some information from a Dec 2021 thread
Vidanta :do I upgrade

*******
What does "priority booking" mean ?
1) as spoken by the Vida Sales person.
2) as written in the contract.

Vidanta contracts have booking windows- 6 months - 8 months -12 months etc.
Vidanta will honour what is written in the contract.

[My Mayan Palace contract has 6 months for the registered week and a Vacation Fare week that is 45 days for
Feb & March reservations / 6 months for all other months.. It also has an accrual addendum that allows use of the current years week to book into the following year.
In functionality this means Aug 2022 I can book February 2023 weeks.]

Not so. They're squeezing the one bedrooms into the original GM one bedroom, plus they're making studios out of the original studios. The promises made that the one bedrooms would be the size of the two bedroom GM were not kept. And some units will be facing the back. Again lies upon lies. What rights do we have with this level of misrepresentation? Who do we go to to fix these contracts that were based on lies?

Hi @Heidibgwriting
Welcome to TUG & the TUG Mexican Forum

What does your contract say ? - that is what matters
If you wish to have a conversation you should contact Vidanta Member Services.

Are you in Nuevo right now ?
Have Deluxxe opened for owner-member usage?

Yes, we have an appt. with member services tomorrow and will see how it goes. The other issue is that we tried to rescind this offer and were told that we no longer could because the five day window had closed. We understood that weekends don't count, but the sales person told us this was not so if they were working on weekends. I'm going to check this out tomorrow.

In addition, we were given a drawing of what the units would look like, but they have now been changed.

This is my first time purchasing a timeshare / membership and need some advice.

I have been to Vidanta twice through purchasing members weeks or others exchanges, stayed in RM in Jungle Suite and this time in NV grand Luxxe tower 5. My husband and I really like the Vidanta resorts so we decided to attend the presentation and see. We really had no idea what the prices of these are.

We just signed contract today and have 5 days to change our mind. Looking for advice.

Deluxxe - 1 bedroom suite (can also use grand Luxxe 1 Bed suite) and 1 year accrual
1 Registered week - 10 year red week (12 month reservation window)
2 paramount weeks - 10 year renewable to 100 years (10 month reservation window unless nov 15- mar 30 then 8 months)
2 privilege weeks - through SFX
Only pay when you use. Usage fee is 1700.
2 one time unit upgrades to Grand Luxxe Master Suite (2 bedroom)
1 free one time week for new member
Club Freedom - $3000 credits, 2 cruise certificates, 2 freedom weeks (can be a Vidanta property)
Ambassador Program
Essential Level for the parks

We also got a Imperial Jungle Aqua Master Room with 1 registered red week and 2
Paramount weeks as a “guest room” usage fee is $850.
All for a total of $56k. We really have no idea if this is good. Please help with advice. We have 5 business days to cancel. Thank you
Never buy just exchange into the resort. that is a crazy price.

Just went to see the newly opened Deluxxe units in Nuevo and was horrified. Nothing has been done to increase the size of the one bedroom. It's the same size as the original GM units. All that's been done is new furniture and accessories, tiny balconey because they cut a couple of feet off to increase the small living room, almost nowhere to sit on the balconey, no pool outside, just a seating area overlooking a swampy lagoon, no special front desk or concierge, a total ripoff. We feel cheated and lied to. There will be units facing the back as the hallway was not moved as promised. So angry at the management of Vidanta. They claim to be a first class accommodation, but cheating and lying to people brings down their whole reputation.

In addition, we were offered a compensation for the mess at the Deluxxe--hah, hah--of not paying the taxes on $100,000 deal to upgrade across the river for a two bedroom unit with access to everything below. What a joke.

Sounds like the Bliss brand fiasco

Hope it wasn't you, but I met some people last year on the gondola tour to the water show, who were buying into the GM Deluxxe units from Grand Luxxe to be closer to the beach. Can't imagine paying a big upsell to get smaller units to be there. Vidanta used to be so easy, now it's become a jumble of unit types, contract types, renewal types, etc.

My 2001 two bedroom Mayan Palace (with VF extra week) bought resale in 2007 ends in 2026. I will not be renewing, but I wonder if anyone would want to buy it $1 toward the end for another 25 years of usage(?). It would mean 5X MF to transfer, ( around $1041 X 5 by 2024 prices), plus a once every 5 year reno charge (I guess I would pay in the 25th year of the contract that last usage year).

Just a thought, instead of giving Vidanta the unit back and give it to someone who would want it. I know Vidanta would love to have it not sold.

No Grand Mayan is 3000 sf. The GL 2 bedroom is larger than the Deluxxe. The Grand Mayan closest to the beach is perpendicular to the beach and is only 3 stories high, so with all the palm trees, there will not be an ocean view.

I hope you can rescind. Do not go to the Sales office. You go to Member Services on the ground floor of the sales building.

Can member services do anything for you?

If you are still on the resort or nearby and within the rescission period they can process the rescission. They will, however, attempt to renegotiate a deal with you that is acceptable instead of what you originally agreed to and are rescinding.

Not really on-topic, but re: Vidanta; I haven't joined RCI yet & I guess it is impossible to peek behind the curtain w/o paying to be a member. The HGVC version of RCI has Grand Mayans listed, with 1 bdrm costing 5,440 pts. Someone told me once how much Vidanta weeks cost on RCI, but I wasn't paying attention then. So, now how do the points needed to book a week in a Grand Mayan cost on RCI vs that 5,440 hgvc points? Anybody know the #?
5,440 is pretty good, but I swear the # I heard back when was much lower, as in low enough to make it worth joining RCI.
Is the exchange fee different going thru RCI direct vs thru hgvc's rci portal?

I can't fully answer your question, but I just made trades using RCI ($299 to trade a week) and Destination Xchange ($159 online or 169 with a live person). So there is that difference.

Another is I was given 10 years free use trading with Destination Xchange and deposited weeks are good for 5 years to trade. RCI charges $109 for a year's membership and deposits are good for 2+/- years.

Thanks. $299 to trade a week using RCI is more than the $249 going thru the hgvc portal. I guess hgvc "subsidizes" it. Destination Xchange was/is Diamond, right? I'd guess I am not allowed to join owning hgvc but not Diamond (hvc? idk?). That seems to be the lever they use to sell Max.
What system's deeds or points do you own and what did you trade thru DX?

Yes, Destination Xchange was Diamond and is now HVC. I use DX to deposit my one bedroom Polo Towers LV week, which is now branded Hilton. It gets a level 5 trade when deposited. I used a deposited week to get two weeks for next year at Buganvileas in Puerto Vallarta ( a one bedroom week and a studio week for next Jan/Feb). I used another deposit to trade for a two bedroom 2 bath week in Palm Springs for later in the month.

During my last visit to LV, I was pushed to buy into HGVC, but I resisted. The word on TUG is converting to Max costs a lot and only gives you "leftovers"(whatever remains after HGVC owners make exchanges, because you only get a 6 month prior to travel booking window with Max vs. 12 months given to owners of HGVC.

BTW, we went last month to Cabo Azul (was Diamond and now HGVC) in San Jose del Cabo for two weeks. I used RCI TPs to exchange. The number of TPs was relatively low for 2 weeks of a two bedroom 2 bath suite, but the resort fees were high. My guess is RCI lowers the TPs for Cabo Azul because of the high resort fees. TPs of 11 and 12 whereas nearby resorts would need TPs of 25-30+ for a similar trade. Cabo Azul was a great resort, very well done (only Grand Luxxe in my opinion would I rate better).

There are a huge number of Cabo Azul weeks available on DX, but they come with the 1200 peso resort fee per day. The resort fee, owners there told me, is not charged to them. So that's another number to ponder.
