Checked in at Crystal Shores. A new benefit we hadn’t enjoyed before was receiving a special wrist band reflecting our status. Not a reason to purchase up to Chairman level but nice just the same

We got a couple of those when we checked in to Monarch last December. They even had some black key cards that looked extra special. BTW, we aren't even Chairman.

Well so much for being special

To be honest, I likely received them because we were staying on a reservation made by a chairman owner. It certainly isn't the norm.

They look like the proximity wristbands sold at the front desk of properties as an alternative to traditional key cards to get into your unit. If so, that's a nice little perk (especially since ones we have purchased in the past have failed eventually and we end up having to exchange them out for new ones periodically).

I checked on the Marriott site and it says (if you aren't Chairman Level) that the cost is $10 for one or $15 for two and that the $ goes to the Children's Miracle network. It might be nice to use the wrist band rather than a key card.

We have bought several of the wristbands over the years. At one time they were resort specific with a resort logo on them. The new ones just have a MVC logo.

If I’m not mistaken, it’s the green ones that are for sale.

They have them in several colors. But, yes, the black ones wouldn't be for sale since those would "technically" be for Chairman only, and they get them for free.

We received these during our stay there in late October, but they never worked so I just used our keys. I wasn't offered them this week at MCV.

We got them in LV last Feb, when we went to Crystal shores they did not have them yet but said they should be getting them soon. I got the impression it was something that all resorts would be doing or at least had the opportunity to do. The one issue for us is they only have one size and they're pretty large.

Maybe it’s a Crystal Shores thing, or maybe they’re just beginning to roll them out. We were at OceanPointe last December and weren’t offered them.

we’ve used wrist bands for the last several years with varying degrees of success. Because if this I’ve learned to ask for the key cards as well. We’ve had similar issues when we’ve had the Mobil key on our phone.

I actually love the chairman’s bands — they work for us, even after swimming, and fit even my 12 yo (you only get two at checkin, but I have kept just enough to rekey for the family, whenever we return to our local MVC)

Hope MKO starts to give them out to chairmans. Would love to use these instead of the key cards.

Where did it state in the website that Chairmans were to receive these band gratis? Thanks

Doesn't Ko'Olina not have the wristbands at all? Even the colored ones you can buy (two for $15)? We got two of them way back in 2017 at Ko'Olina.

Wife likes the look of this black one. The ones they sell are white, green and grey. Those colors do not appeal to wife and I like free :cheer::cheer:

Free?

Yes free is a nice perk for spending tens of thousands of dollars up front plus thousands of dollars each year.

my thought when I saw them was, It’s about time they caught up with other to other timeshare systems that recognize their elites with special little perks like special key cards. Even airlines and cruise lines do small things for their most loyal customers. Not that those little perks make spending the $$ to reach them worth it, but it is nice to be recognized as special.

I can think of better ways to reward me as a Chairman. Our benefits are far too similar to Presidential, who have spent quite a bit less.

How about if they throw in a special black chairman’s club room key too.

There really isn’t much between presidents level and chairman’s level benefits for incentive to move up. We’re only Chairman’s level because we decided we wanted the points to reserve the vacations we wanted the way we wanted.

They have them, but perhaps Crystal Shores doesn't have them on hand.

I know. They have them at Crystal Shores. It’s why I made the comment

At the resorts, I don't think they should see any one owner different than another. For that stay, we all own and bought the same thing. We paid our MFs to get us there, some paid more but they did that for the ability to have priority at the resort of their choosing. If Marriott wants to hand out cards or give discounts in the club for people that paid more, then I am okay with that, but treating owners at the resort differently based on a class isn't something I like. Like, should there be a Chairman's Club Only pool and hot tub? Priority dining reservations, or extra discounts?

I just want a teal ottoman!

Years ago when I first started reading TUG there was a post from a person who was aggravated as all get-out that the teal ottomans had been replaced in a recent refurbishment. I mean, really REALLY aggravated! That post has stuck with me all this time even though I haven't been able to find it since. If you do a search you'll get all my posts talking about that one, but not that one. The post is as elusive as the ottoman!
