Thanks.

Yes, I saw the trial offer on the website. Will probably give it a whirl. Wish I would have thought about it during the winter months. Don't watch much TV once the weather gets nice.

Try it out. I tried it last August for 3 months, then quit, and now they're still allowing me the promotion this year. So, you probably have nothing to lose as long as you cancel within the 7 day period.

Between the NBA and NHL playoffs, and then MLB starting, it's prime sports viewing time for me. I enjoy this time of year as much as the NFL playoffs. However, by the time I get home, I get less than 2 hours to watch TV each night myself.

My daughter was fed up with the price of cable. She went with Sling Take Back TV and an over the air antenna for local network channels (in HD) and she and the kids are happy.

Cheers

I only have one day left on my seven day trial with Sling and I'm going to have my
Dish network shutoff next week. I found channel surfing a little different because it's more
Like surfing the guide and that's what I used to do.

I haven't had any clumsiness. I run mine through my new Fire TV. I just upgraded from
The Firestick. I'll keep that for when I go on timeshare vacations. I have noticed an
Improvement in my picture quality with Sling over Dish. My wife noticed right away.

I have an antenna that pulls In 28 channels with all the major networks. All with great
Digital pictures. So with that and ESPN, I'll get just about all my Packer games. So
Overall I'm happy with Sling TV and my Fire TV with Prime. We get most of the
Channels we used to watch, better picture quality and we save $80 a month.:cheer:

Well, I may be dropping Sling TV. Not that I wasn't happy or that it didn't work well because it did but I just put Kodi on my FireTV and I get much more and it's totally free. I now get all the cable news networks not just CNN. I get more channels than I used to get with DISH network too.

I'm going to wait a week and make sure everything streams fine then I'll cancel Sling. In just a few months, I went from paying $100 a month, down to $0 and I have more channels and movies than I had before.

There are so many movies on here that we really don't need Amazon Prime anymore either but because we buy from them , the free shipping and music still make that worth the $100 a year.

It took me a long time to take the streaming plunge but I'm glad I did and it turned out better than what I thought I was really happy with.

Ok, getting back into heavy TV watching season for me. Ace2000, or any other long term subscribers, anything you can add regarding your experience with sling and sports? Looks to me as though they've added some content?

We have had Sling TV since it started. We love it as I can watch my beloved Jayhawk basketball on the ESPN stations. Last year I had to pay the extra $5 per month when I needed ESPNU, (just January-March) but this year, none of the KU games are on ESPNU, so I will get to watch all the games on ESPN, or the few that are on CBS (using a digital antenna). My husband loves Netflix and is always watching something there while I watch HGTV in another room. :)

We still have more channels on Sling TV than we watch! We have some Fire Sticks that we bought from Amazon when it first came out and bought a couple of Ruku boxes, so we can watch pretty much what we want anywhere in the house and pay $20 for Sling and $10 for Netflix. The initial outlay for 2 Firesticks and 3 Rokus (refurbished ones on eBay) was less than one cable bill. We are happy with it.

We do have the super high-speed internet connection, but we cut $110+ off per month on our cable bill when we changed over.

Funny you ask this question tonight, because the reason I'm sitting here on my computer right now instead of watching the Bills/Jets is because the game has been blacked out on my SlingTV service. :) I have no idea why.

My free 3 months were finished a couple of months ago, and I decided to keep the service and pay for it. So, obviously I feel it's worthwhile. I basically watch just two channels on Sling - Fox Sports MW (for the Cardinals games) and CNN. I pay $20/month for the Blue Beta version.

The rest of my consistent TV viewing is on ESPN (Roku app) and Netflix.

With Fox Sports MW, ESPN, TNT, and my local channels - I really have all the sports I could wish for.

P.S. I still don't like using the remote to get around the Sling channels... :)

Here's a current channel listing at the link below (scroll down).

Thanks for the info. I had checked their web site and I agree, there seems to be ample programming. I'm mostly concerned with the logistics of using it. Do you always have to go back to a central screen to switch between channels? Are there no hot keys that allows one to directly access user programmed "favorites"? Is there noticeable buffering every time one changes channels? What about toggling back and forth between two games? Easy, or cumbersome?

I think I described the channel changing as kind of clumsy previously and I'll stick to that description. It's just slow and you have to go through various levels in the menus to get where you want to go. You probably have to experience it to understand.

Having said that, they did change things recently. Now, as soon as you go to Sling it automatically shows your favorite channels and allows you to go directly to one of them from there. Personally I like that change, since I only mostly watch two channels anyway.

There does seem to be a "buffering" or slight delay when I change channels, and there are a couple of hot keys that allow you to revert back to the previous channel. I use the roku remote to navigate, so others may have a different experience.

Elan - I recall that you are a college football fan and just noticed this recent announcement...

http://blog.sling.com/announcements/espn3-and-sec-network-/

Yep, thanks. In fact, it was my stumbling across the article below that jogged my memory to go check out sling TV again.

http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2016/9/1/12684186/ncaa-football-without-tv-cord-cutting

I'm going to sign up for the trial when I know I'll have time to mess with it. Too busy right now.

Thanks again for the insight! :)
