What's the deal with this company?

Was offered which seems to me a very high amount for my property.

I'm guessing this is a scam.

There is a simple rule of thumb with timeshare offers:

ANYONE who charges a large upfront fee (no matter what they call it) to sell or rent your timeshare is a scammer - PERIOD!

If they're asking for any kind of upfront money, it probably is. There are a LOT of scammers out there, and in fact, TUG has played an important role in exposing them.

Did you try Googling the company? If there are any fraud cases, they'll probably pop up.

yeah, but there doesn't seem to be a upfront cost.

They say they have an offer from a prospective buyer.

Sounds real strange to me, but I don't know.

Anybody else getting calls from them?

I GUARANTEE that there is an upfront fee...but they are going to string you along for awhile, and then all of the sudden, when they've got you hooked, they will hit you with the "fee." They may call it taxes, appraisal, closing cost, guarantee of the broker's commission, etc., etc. - doesn't matter WHAT they call it - it's a scam.

Common sense tells you that it can't be a legit offer when it's so much higher than the market - that's just the bait.

Scam for sure. There is no buyer. This is a VERY common scam directed at timeshare owners. They tell you they have a buyer and, at some point, they will ask for money for some service such as an appraisal or title search. Once you give them the money, they will disappear.

They may claim that you are safe if you use a credit card, but this is not true. They may also claim that there is an escrow, but this is a lie. There is no escrow and they will have you sign a contract agreeing to let them spend the money.

You received some good advice. Follow it...

Whether anyone else is getting such calls is unimportant. You've been given some very good advice above and you'd be well advised to take it to heart. If you choose to ignore the advice and you choose to unwisely proceed ahead anyhow, just remember that in this particular arena; there are no "victims", only volunteers. Don't "volunteer"!

It is in all likelihood another in a long line of similar scams

Here is a link to an all too typical operation like the one you describe that has fortunately now been busted. But as you are finding there are plenty more out there ready and willing to take your money and give you nothing in return.

ANY group that calls YOU is 99% certain to be an upfront fee company. What are those? A group that makes great sounding promises to rent/lease/sell/transfer/etc your timeshare or system membership points at a good to great price. They often claim to have a buyer or a renter or a group wanting space, etc - but then YOU have to pay to assure the process gets done. In realty that is all they really want - the upfront money paid by you and they can basically disappear (you'll hear nothing more from them & they will be very hard to impossible to reach) to go after the next victim.

DO NOT try to deal with them as it is a scam. Forget any "guarantees" as they are unenforceable (ask yourself what recourse you'd have if you couldn't reach them tomorrow or they simply never followed through with the promises made). Forget any protection from a credit or debit card. They have things set up so what you are promised meets the minimum requirements to assure they, not you, get paid.

DO NOT try to use them or you will be out whatever money they manage to get from you. THAT is a guarantee you can bank on unlike the meaningless, unenforceable one they are trying to lure you in with.

This appears to be the same group that was operating under mgmuniversaltimeshare..

The websites pull from the same datasource when you look at the coding.

They are currently targeting Mexican owner lists using the fake tax scheme instead of the outright upfront fee.

You may like them??? very much, but they are still scammers, so don't botter promoting them around here.
