Wow, what a persistent scammer!

Their myth that companies really want to buy timeshares to use for staff, extended stays, etc., is fascinating. That is so far from the reality at any major company. Yes, big companies own apartments in places like NYC to use for traveling executives, but that's quite a different business proposition than the myth that they'd want to own timeshares.

It's also interesting that they first posted this concept on some Travel & Leisure site (probably where there's no real moderator, at at least no one who knows timeshares), and then linked to that post as "proof" that their business is legitimate. And attacked our members who dared to challenge them.

I do have to admire their bravado and internet skills in trying to use these techniques to convince us....too bad they didn't put the same expertise to developing an legitimate business....oh, but then they wouldn't be able to make $$$$ scamming people:)

At least by all these posts, we may increase the chances that our conversation about this rip-off company will pop to the top when some future sucker does an internet search to see what they can learn about them.

I should have checked sooner! :D

Much to no surprise, CarreraS4 and Michelle_Parker, have EXACTLY the same IP address....

That means that one person is posting under 2 user names, or two people are posting from the same office.

Either way - we won't be hearing from then any more.

I believe these two scammers are the same person. I had read CarreraS4's post, which has since been deleted due to advertising, and he claimed that HIS post was altered and also mentioned the weblink that was changed. However, he was referring to Michelle's post. I think he forgot which name he was logged in under.

How to Get Rid Of a Timeshare

When you are buying timeshares, it is an easy process and the prices are made as attractive as possible. Getting rid of a timeshare however is another story all together.
...is just a front for several upfront fee companies, which are probably actually one upfront fee company, with several names. A link to Luxury Capital Group is prominently displaced on the homepage. I deleted the name of the webpage - no sense giving them free advertising.

Another waste of time

I just completed a call from this same group with the same sales pitch. This time they wanted $3000 in advance to show that I could afford to sell my timeshare. If it had been as valuable as the price they quoted, then surely I had enough money. Of course, until I gave them all my bank account information, they wouldn't send me any paperwork to show to my lawyer.

I have sold my Worldmark by Wyndham timeshare and believe me when I tell you that it was costly!

Horrible example. Definitely SHILL. You would be a moron to dispose of a Worldmark ownership to a PCC.... takes one auction on ebay with a no reserve to sell. Worldmark Point ownerships are one of the best to get a purchase price for (in addition to the buyer paying closing/transfer fees)... along with Hyatt, Marriott, etc....

 I also received the phone call from Luxury Capital Global. The scam is getting better. The first call got the particulars for the condo. The second call said they were buying condo for Westgate properties only. Mine did not qualify but a new order would be coming in a couple of months. Two months later I get the call that they want to buy my condo for more than double the worth. $ 29,000 for a $13,000 condo.
I would have to pay $3000 for the title search and letter but it would be considered a deposit. When I mentioned that real-estate sales don’t work that way she said "it is different with timeshares".
I know a title search is worthless before a contract is signed because you could put a lien on it after the search.
Also you cannot use the timeshare as collateral. Usually the only money due is against the timeshare it self.
When I call back the call was screened. She said to check out their web site but to put the URL address in as it would be lost in pages of search items. It came up in the first page and the blog with comments.
The testimonials address questions and don’t give specific information.
Never pay for a title search up front. That is the buyers responsibility.
This site is a scam. Run don’t walk away.
Learned the hard way.

Timeshare telemarketers

My sister who is a senior citizen was called by someone wanting to sell her timeshares for her. They sounded legitimate much like Luxury Capital. She made many mistakes like sending them $2000.00 upfront via money order. Next mistake was they called and said they needed another $800.00 for something else. She still did not have ANY paperwork from THEM.. After her sending them a total of $8000, I found out about it and woke her up. They did actually call again wanting another $800.00 per timeshare for title, and stamps.. She told them no more money and they hung up on her... All a scam.. What makes it so bad is she maxed out a credit card to send them the money, as she needed to get out from under the maintenance fees. Now she still has those, and no money..
CAUTION!! Don't give any money until the sale is final and you have papers!!

This can be disputed with the credit card - she needs to call them IMMEDIATELY and follow up with a letter.

Luxury Capital Group

First I want to thank the group here for posting the information on the Luxury Capital Group. If I had not read what people had posted here, I might have got sucked into one of their scams. Although after having been scammed out of $750 from Timeshares by Owner, I am very suspicious of all of these companies.

My wife got a call from a man named Tony Morgan from a company that he called Time Share Advisory Group in Seattle, WA. Tony introduced himself as the National Director of the organization. My wife suggested that he talk to me when I get home, since I have been involved in the dozens of calls from various organizations wanting to sell our Worldmark timeshare. So he said he would call me three days later on Thursday, November 10 at 9:00 AM. My wife took down his telephone number from our caller ID, which was 206-673-3633. I did a Google search on the number and came up with a different company called Luxury Capital Group. (Strike one for a phony name)

So I called Tony Morgan yesterday at the number from the caller ID and a lady answered and said it was Luxury Capital Group. I asked her if they had a Tony Morgan working for them and she said, "Yes we do." I said "is this Time Share Advisory Group or Luxuary Capital Group." She said "it is Luxury Capital Group." I said this is interesting since Mr. Morgan called me and introduced himself as the National Director of Time Share Advisory Group from this telephone number. This stopped her for a minute, but she said, "Well we have a number of investment companies that are a part of Luxury Capital Group. Why don't I let you talk to Mr. Morgan."

So Mr. Morgan came on the line and I posed the same question to him of WHO he actually works for. He stuck with the story that Time Share Advisory Group is part of the larger organization of Luxury Capital Group. I told him who I was and that I had an appointment to receive a call from him on Thursday, November 10 at 9:00 AM. I said I did not have a lot of time at the moment, but I wanted the web address for Time Share Advisory Group. He danced on that question and told me they had not set it up yet, but I could access information on them on the Luxury Capital Group website. (Strike two for setting up a new company to hide behind.) Then he went into his spiel that they were listed with Dunn & Bradstreet. I told "So what? It's easy to get listed with them, so I am not impressed."

I tld him that I had been burned by a timeshare sales scam before so I'm twice cautious. I told him I would do some digging on both comapnies and then I would be better prepared to talk to him at the appointed time. He wanted to give me his sales pitch at the moment and I said I did not have time to listen to it. Call me tomorrow at the appointed time and we will talk.

When I was doing some research on Luxury Capital Group is when I found your website. Now I was really prepared to talk to Tony.

But guess what? He did not call. No big surprise here, since he knew I was going to do some research on them. (Strike three. You're OUT!

I was so impressed with the information I got here, is I joined your TUG last evening. So I am a paid up "card carrying" member. Thanks to everyone here for the great information.

Luxury Capital Group is a Scam-- DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR PITCH

I received a call from a "Peter Morgan" at Luxury Capital Group from phone number 206-673-3633. My Caller ID said "Land Line" and not Luxury Capital Group.

If you call the number, a woman answers the phone as "Luxury Capital Group" and acknowledged that a Peter Morgan was on the phone. I informed her that he had just hung up on me when I told him I was interested, but I would like for him to send me all the documentation that I would need to sign and send back with my check for $2,000.

What I thought was laughable was that our Timeshare is worth, at best, about $2,200--yet he said he had a buyer for the unit for $7,300. He had NO ANSWER to my question on why he did not ask me what specific development in the resort that I had a timeshare in. I said that we were in an all-frame lower quality structure, but there were other 1BD/1BA units in very nice all stone and brick structures higher up the mountain--in a different development.

But it was my request for the documentation that finally set him off and he hung up. I called back and asked him to call me back. No response as of yet.

"Peter Morgan" and his ilk should be arrested. These are not victimless crimes. There are many desperate owners that would love to jettison their maintenance obligations AND get more than what they thought they would ever get for their timeshare. These people are probably getting 25% plus commissions on these selling of services that are never rendered. And they KNOW they are ripping people off.

"Peter Morgan" hung up on you because he wants an easier victim. The more people he calls and is able to scam only increases his income. If you are not ready to pay, he will simply hang up and keep dialing for dollars.

That said, I am sure he will gladly wait on hold for an hour while you search for your credit card.

Please read all the posts in this thread - this is a common ploy in the timeshare market today - DON'T DO IT!

The rule of thumb for ALL timeshare business offers is NEVER pay an upfront fee - no matter what they call it!

Guess that tells the tale of this scam company.

from the amount of first time posters telling of how they got scammed or were about to get scammed by this or other companies, I think we are hitting a big nerve. Plus with the shrills that have stopped by, what two or three now, we are putting a nice ding in the one. :p

and to CarreraS4,,, yes i have sold a timeshare before DA, posted it on tug and got offer in 3 days. buyer paid closing cost, they got a real deal as well, not one of your fake non existent deals..

and yes i had a couple slime like yours calling me offering 5-6 time more than it was worth, but needed a 1000 dollars up front to cover taxes or some other lie. I just hung the phone in their face. :annoyed:

remember the people you scammed this Christmas and think about your friends, parents or grand mother and how it would effect them.. oh sorry you were born under a rock. my bad. :bawl:

Thanks for your postings

Hi all,
New poster!

I got the same "sell your timeshare" call two weeks ago. Then "Peter Morgan" called today to follow up. His story was the same of tax break for luxury items under Bush. Asked about my property and gave back public information about it. Said it could sell for $17,850 as part of a 60 unit purchase (they have 47 bought and need 13 more!).

The guy was smooth right up until you ask odd-ball questions. Then the uhm, uhhs, and other stutters started. He even walked through the process in three direct steps.

When I asked how he got compenstated; he hit me with 15% of closing prices to cover the fees and expenses. Well then he takes me through to find them in DNB.com. Well I've used DNB before (selling high end optical test equipment) to determine credit worthiness. And pre-paying someone over the phone a 15% commission seemed very odd.

So I told him I'd have to get back to him. (since I hadn't done any research or even the slightest Googling of his company for complainst).

That's when I found you guys. Thank you for confirming my suspicions that UPFRONT $$$ = SCAM. I always pay for work after the work is done, not before and there was noway I was going to pre-pay the items.

Regards,
Colonel Coo

Luxury Capital Group - Thanks for Warning

Hi to all. At the risk of repeating the same information already provided by others in this thread about this company, I want to put down some details to help with "pattern recognition" for others, and also to help keep this site at the top of the Google search results for Luxury Capital Group, as that helped me spot this scam! A big THANK YOU to all of you on this BBS.

I just got off a call with someone from Luxury Capital Group. The first phone call, from Timeshare Advisory Group, was late last week, and the lady said someone would be calling on Tuesday with an offer. The call duly came. The gentleman started asking me to verify my name and other contact information. I suggested that I first hear the offer so as not to waste time, but he explained that his role was just to verify information, and it would be his sales manager who will negotiate with me. The information he provided regarding Luxury Capital Group is similar to that mentioned in the other posts.

Now, I should mention that English is not my first language, and I have an accent. Thus, this gentleman asked me to get a pen and paper and write down everything he will be telling me. First, his company will be performing the following process on my behalf:
1. Order a title and deed search
2. Prepare estoppel letter
3. Prepare closing documents

Next, he started providing company information:
Luxury Capital Group
1100 Dexter Avenue North, Suite 100
Seattle, Washington 9810
Tel. 206-673-3633

He also mentioned Dun and Bradstreet, started giving me website URLs for Dun and Bradstreet and his company, hours of operation, the bank his company uses (Chase Manhattan), the DUNS for his company (014326820), etc., etc. All this while I was searching on Google and reading this thread, and by now I've stopped writing stuff down. I am sure all of this is an attempt to spin an illusion of legitimacy. Next, he said "you qualified; I'm going to put my signature on this and see if a sales manager is available to talk to you". In a few seconds he came back to say that his sales manager is on the phone with another customer and will call me back. When the new guy did, I just said I changed my mind about selling and he thanked me and said I have his contact information when I am ready to sell. I guess he didn't want to waste any more time (same sentiments here).

Obviously Luxury Capital Group is still actively trying to scam people, as of today. I wish there is a way word could be gotten out to people without easy access to the internet - nowadays I Google everything as a safety check. Thank you again to everyone.

Luxury Capital Group

Received the same series of calls. I was passed on to the "director's boss", a Donna Parker, Regional Director. Not much new to report, other than she offered to split the payments up into three installments.

I told her that I wouldn't feel comfortable paying any upfront monies, and that if the buyer was going to reimburse these fees, to have them place the monies in escrow, to be paid to Luxury Capital Group upon completion of closure. Obviously that won't fly with them.

I have to admit it was a smooth presentation, but one of the biggest red flags was the purchase price.

She did send me a document that simply is a print out of information available on their website. Somehow, this was supposed to make me feel more confident. I notice that there are a number of testimonial comments at the end of this document, although I doubt that "Roger B. from Virginia" would be forthcoming with any real verification that the deal actually occurred.

I have no level of comfort with this, and am glad I was able to find this information! Thanks for being there!

For what it's worth

Another red flag......

According to the Washington State Atty Generals office the President for this company is Ronald Muise and is apparently living in Las Vegas (per LinkedIn and other sites). Why do you suppose the president of a private Washington state business lives in Las Vegas?

Like most of you whom have received this phone call, When mine came in I told them up front - within the first 30 seconds - if any money was required from me up-front then we need not go any further. I was assured no money was required. It wasn't until after the third call that I found it to be differently and $2,802.00 being requested.

Way too many red flags for me.

These people need to realize that with the internet and a few bucks, they can be generally very easily tracked down - including family members, associates and much, much more. It's amazing, with the accessibility of information, how businesses can continue to take advantage of people.

If I was a scammer and took peoples money in less than good faith, I'd be very afraid of someone tracking me down.

My mom was suckered into writing a check up front for this company that has already been cashed, with a receipt sent to them. Is there any way to get the money back? Any way to get these guys?
