At the MVCI website you can now request to exchange your 2010 week(s) for MR points.

How soon are those points credited to ones account? Shortly after the request and payment of $124 or not until Dec 2009 ?

I was thinking about the Jan 15th deadline....

Good question. I was always told by Marriott that the points would not be credited until after the 1st of the year, however ... I have deposited my Monarch for points regularly. For the last 4 or 5 years, I have gotten the points credit after about 2 weeks from deposit/ paying the points fee. This has always been in the Fall. I hae never traded in for points at the beginning of the year.

In theory, you shouldn't get your points until early 2010 - the year that you are entitled to points instead of using your timeshare. That's what Marriott will usually tell you and that's what the written language states at the MVCI website.

However, in practice, Marriott has normally deposited the points sometime in September, if you request it by then. Thus, there is no advantage to trading for points until at least late August. Don't hurry. Sometime in the next eight months you might change your mind and decide to use or exchange your week.

It boils down to the residency on the account... irrelevant of where you own.

European residency = $124 vs. US residency $104...

Shortly before I exchange anything I will change my profile address to my US address.... afterwards I change back to my european address to make sure I get all of the mail, statements, etc....

I think this is just one way to get extra money from us and to pay for the european MVCI offices in Cork, Ireland.
