I would post it on the site that the ts is located. I posted and rented a Steamboat Springs, CO week in the "rocky mountains" site in the state of CO. I figured people are going to look for vacation rentals in the area that they are going to vacation in. It worked for me.

I also sold a Steamboat Springs week on Criags List, but I posted it in Denver. You can only post in one area at a time, so I'd post it where it will get the most visibility to people who may be looking for something in that area. You may want to alternate if you think there are more than one area that poeple might look.

Good luck.

Pushing Back Against Craig's List Hard Bargainers.

Yesterday The Chief Of Staff got several calls from people responding to her Craig's List ad for a low-mileage 2000 Honda Odyssey minivan, which she was selling for a disabled friend who lives out of state.

(The car sold right away for a decent price. Low-mileage Hondas apparently are in demand.)

The asking price was right there in the ad -- $5,200.

A couple of the callers started off by asking what's our lowest price. Nuts to that. When the caller shows up & starts bargaining in earnest, the haggling would start from an asking price he already got bumped down over the phone. No good.

I decided (too late) how to respond next time.

Caller: What's your lowest price ?

Me: Six thousand dollars.

Caller: The ad says fifty-two hundred.

Me: OK, fifty-two hundred.

The 1st guy who showed up bought the car -- got a great bargain at $4,600. Even so, that's $1,100 over the best offer anybody put forward when the car was advertised & shown out of town.

I advertise at the location of the timeshare. I never considered anything else.

Craigs list has worked well for me but its always (almost always) last minute shoppers and last minute deals. I did eight June and July 4th rentals plus one for next February, in the last 30 days. I could have done more but I ran out of inventory

Be sure and repost your ad every 2 days.(the maximum permitted). I find that most Craigs list shoppers are not looking beyond the current days posts. Im developing two different ads so that I can have one running every day. Also I like to post late at night (after midnight craigs list time) so that I am the first ad of the day. or the last one from the day before...I get better response that way, rather than when Im lost in the middle of the pack...Also pay attention to your headline, figure out a way to make it stand out
