cluemeister, I'm taking a chance that #3 might be a lie.

Cindy, is #1 a lie?

My guesses

Steve and Cindy,

I'm guessing #1 is a lie for both of you. Steve sounds like he has decided to make life changes, but the birthday sounds so true it must be a lie. Cindy should remember the birth of her child, and studying a year in Israel sounds legit. However, riding rollercoasters gets less enjoyable as you get older.

I'm holding off on revealing my lie until a few more guesses come in.

Clue, #1 is a lie. I have never enjoyed roller coasters and would consider it torture to be forced to go on one. I do not remember the birth of my child as much as I would like to. I was awake but had a life threatening situation immediately after and was unconscious for 8 days. I am fine now but cannot remember the birth.

Theresa, I'm with you on that one!

Steve, I'm guessing #2 is a lie, unless you like running in the rain.
Karen - you're right.

The 31st was my 55th, and I plan tro knock of some continents when I get a chance.

I am doing more running (the soft trails at Mercer Slough are easy on these old joints), but I'm not semi-crazy enough to do a semi-marathon.

Clue, I'll say #3.

Steve, #1?

I hate to be unoriginal but I think cat's got both of you pegged.

Let me see if I can stump you guys.

1. I met Rasheed Wallace of the Detroit Pistions
2. I'm a huge Dodger fan
3. I watched the semifinals of the men's curling world championships last weekend.

oops, I had my post sitting here for a while. Steve you got me.

I'm guessing you have met Rasheed Wallace, being in the Bahamas and all, and you very well could be a Dodgers fan.

I don't think you watched the curling championships, as I would think a winter sport like that would have ended by now. I'll go with #3.

Especially since, according to worldcurling.org, the World Men's Curling Championship 2006 just started Saturday, 4/1/2006.

I was torn between Ben Wallace & Women's Curling. I wanted to say that I met Ben Wallace & watched womens curling but I guess I'm not a good lier. You're both right. It was The Ford Women's Curling semi's between US & Canada that I watched. BTW anyone know who won the final between the U.S. & Sweden?

Sweden won 10-9 according to http://www.worldcurling.org/Curlhome/Statistics/tournament.asp?tid=252

3 wrong guesses?

I absolutely think Arrested Development was the funniest show on television.

And I am a staunch George Bush supporter.

My mom talks about Sudoku all the time, but I've never played it before.

So the lie was #2. I am not hooked on Sudoku.

Any others willing to try their luck?

OK, Clue - you got me!

You have to give Sudoku a try. It's addictive, and makes you stretch your abilities of reasoning, so it's good for you, too. Not many fun pastimes that can claim to give you a little back in exchange for sucking up your time.

2 Truths & 1 Lie

I -- Once when The Chief Of Staff & I went to a Christmas party & rang the bell at our host's front door, Elizabeth Taylor opened the door & welcomed us in. (Not some regular, walking-around neighborhood lady named Elizabeth Taylor, but that Elizabeth Taylor, the famous Hollywood babe -- you know, the 1 who used to be married to Eddie Fisher & Richard Burton & those guys.)

II -- I shook hands with Ronald Reagan in 1982. (Not some regular, walking-around neighborhood guy named Ronald Reagan, but that Ronald Reagan, the famous Hollywood actor -- you know, the 1 who was President Of The United States 1981-1989.)

III -- I once sat in (playing horn) with The Canadian Brass when they were in town for a gig at Wolftrap Farm Park For The Performing Arts in Vienna VA, not far from here.

Re: 2 Truths & 1 Lie

Alan, I'll guess that the lie is #1 - Elizabeth Taylor answering the door.

#3 seems reasonable since I seem to remember other posts where you mention your love of music and musical abilities.

#2 seems reasonable since politicians shake hands and meet people all the time.

Please tell about meeting Reagan and Taylor if true.

I & II are the gospel truth.

III is totally bogus.

In the fall of 1980, I was on loan from the U.S. Interior Department to the office of Senator John Warner, who at the time was married to Elizabeth Taylor. Even though I was temporary & only a short-timer at that, the senator invited me & my wife Carol to his staff Christmas party, held at his sumptuous Georgetown townhouse on S Street NW, Washington DC. We knocked. Liz opened the door & welcomed us inside. She was just as charming & warm as if we were old friends or really important or something, instead of just a GS-13 & spouse from the suburbs. She was beautiful, tanned, & smiling, with lovely electric-blue eyes that complimented the deep amethyst or maybe sapphire pendant she had on. Some of her Academy Award oscars were on the fireplace mantel. Some of her French impressionist paintings were on the walls. The Chief Of Staff & I were totally wowed to be in the social company of such illustrious folks.

In 1982, my late father Ben Cole (1916-2002) was president of the Washington DC Gridiron Club. As club president, he was host to several prominent guests at the club's annual white-tie dinner, among them the President Of The United States. He also got to invite a few colleagues, friends, & family members. That's why I was there, & that's how I got to shake hands with President Reagan at a mini-reception before dinner in an anteroom off the main ballroom of the Capital Hilton Hotel.

I have never sat in, playing horn or any other instrument, with the Canadian Brass. Yes, I do play horn -- but not at any kind of Canadian Brass professional level, sorry to say. That's not to say I'm terrible. Shucks, I even go out & play paid gigs 6-12 times a year -- earning just enough to keep me in valve oil. I'm not good but I'm loud. The high point of my musical development was when my horn teacher held up a thumb & forefinger about a half-inch apart & said, "Alan, you're only just about that far from being a good horn player." I was highly pleased to hear that & took it as a great compliment.

Thanks for playing 2 Truths & A Lie.

Not The Same Guy.

In the fall of 1980, I was on loan from the U.S. Interior Department to the office of Senator John Warner
Virginia Senator John Warner retired from office & was replaced by Senator Mark Warner -- no relation, not even the same party affiliation.

Now the Senator Warner Internet link connects to Sen. Mark Warner's web site, not to anything related to former Senator John Warner.

Click here for the John Warner entry at Wikipedia Dot Org. A semi-interesting side note is that the Senator Warner link down near the end of the Wikipedia page is also outdated -- i.e., connects to Sen. Mark Warner's site, same as the Sen. Warner link in my 5-26-2006 TUG-BBS entry.

Time marches on, eh ?

I miss Cat. I hope she is back here, reincarnated under a new name. I wonder if she and her hubby moved? They were going to move back for his job, but she liked where they were. I remember talking to her privately a few times.

If you are here, Cat, send me a PM! :D
