Hopefully someone can offer assistance. Next year we have a reservation at Buganvialias in PVR in Feb 2007. We would then like to book an extra weel vacation in MZT. Has anyone done this and how do you manage travel? Should we take one way flights (which are obviously more expensive) and fly to PVR and take another flight to MZt after a week and then fly home from MZT to Minnesota? Any suggestions as to how you have done this economically in the past would be helpful.

Not an expert but it would seem that you would buy an 'open jaw' ticket Minn - PVR and then MZT - Minn, this can be priced like a round trip, then buy the in country one way PVR - MZT.

Many of the biggie online travel websites have a multi city flight search. I was recently doing a search from SFO to HNL to KOA back to SFO. The pricing didn't seem that much more than a direct non-stop SFO to KOA.

Quiltergal is correct. When you are searching for flights, choose multi-city rather than round-trip. The first class bus should cost appx. $32. from Puerto Vallarta to Mazatlan. You should be able to buy the bus ticket at the bus station in Puerto Vallarta a few days before you board the bus. First class has reserved seats. I'd suggest bringing a snack lunch and a beverage with you because sometimes they don't let you off the bus at the one or two very brief stops along the way. The bus ride is 8 1/2 to 9 hours long, appx. The first class bus is Greyhound quality.
