We are looking at a resale purchase at MVC Grand Chateau for a 2 BR EOY even. In looking at ROFR.net I am seeing entries that state "2 bedroom deluxe." We already own a 2 BR EOY odd and I've never been aware of the fact that there are standard and deluxe 2 BR villas. What's the difference?
Also, are all villas lock offs at Grand Chateau?
Thanks!

The resort has 2BR dedicated units in addition to 2BR lockoffs- but the contracts would not be different. You can book either based on availability.

Does that mean that if you book a lockoff to deposit into Interval, then you can split them up in Interval as a studio and 1 bedroom for 2 trades but if you end up with only being able to book a dedicated 2 bedroom at GCV, then you can only make 1 trade on II? Thanks!

You make the split before you deposit into II.
But yes.

OK makes sense. So if I wanted to stay on the 1 bedroom side of the Grand Chateau week I booked, and then deposit the studio, then I would split it up on the MVC side and then just deposit the studio?

Also - does that means that when searching on eBay, it won't say "lock off" or "dedicated" then... I can just buy any 2 bedroom unit resale? Thanks for all your help.

Yes to your first question.
If the resort you own has lock offs you can reserve one if it is available.

wait…. What?
We’ve owned Grand Chateau in Las Vegas since there was only tower 1. I’m completely unaware of any 2 bedroom “dedicated” units. There is the master suite of the three bedroom unit, but those were never sold as stand alone, dedicated units. Further more I’ve never heard of any “deluxe” units.
All I’ve ever seen is one bedroom, two bedroom lock-off units, and three bedroom lock-offs.
I don’t recall them ever saying tower three would be any different than tower one or two. When I search using Abound points it proves this out. The two bedroom non lock-off units isn’t a dedicated 2 bedroom. It’s just the master suite of the three bedroom lock-off.

If you look on the hotel website there 3 different types of 2-bedroom units at Grand Chateau.

ZZAA- 2BR lockoff
THMV- 2BR (part of the 3BR lockoff)
TOVI- 2BR dedicated unit

I’m not certain about the website, but I am certain what I see as an owner. Unless they changed the configuration in tower three, there are no 2 bedroom dedicated units other than the master suite of the three bedroom lock-off.

When we bought a 2 Bed Lock off at Grand Chateau, the only options they offered us then were the 2 Bed Lock off or a 3 Bed Lock off.

I had been told by sales that tower three would have some “upgrades” since it would lack a true strip view. This to encourage new sales. This was before Abound was announced, so it’s been more than a minute. We haven’t been back to an owners update at the resort. I know that tower one and tower two don’t have any dedicated 2 bedroom units. I’m unsure if they changed the unit layouts in tower three to have fewer keys due to not wanting to expand parking.

I have it stuck in my mind that there are laws that state you have t9 have a specific amount of parking spots per room keys at a hotel. A lock-out has two keys whereas a dedicated 2 bedroom would have only one key. If MVC had made the decision to not build this resort out by building tower 4, maybe they didn’t plan on expanding the parking spaces and that limited the number of keys.

I’m not saying the dedicated 2 bedroom exists, just that as an owner I’ve never heard of them, including this forum. This is the first I’ve seen it mentioned and, since it seems to be someone who isn’t and owner or apparently hasn’t stayed at the resort, I’m pretty much a doubter.

The points required do not have to be different for a 2BR lockoff than a 2BR dedicated unit. Look at Grande Vista for example. The points chart only shows Studio, 1BR, 2BR, & 3BR as options. But there are 1, 2, & 3 bedroom dedicated units and also lockoffs (or parts of lockoffs in the case of a 1BR). 9 different unit code classifications; but only 4 on the points chart.

Willow Ridge & Harbor Lake which are both resorts I do own at are other good examples. The points chart for each only lists a single 2BR option but both resorts have 2BR lockoffs and 2BR dedicated units.

You are right that I have never stayed in a dedicated 2BR unit at Grand Chateau. I am just going off of Marriott's information and I am not sure why they would have created a separate unit code for a unit that does not exist.

They sold 1BR deeds as well. They appear on ebay frequently. There is even one listed currently.

I tell my wife all the time, "You can find out ANYTHING in 5 minutes", given all the resources available.
(Sometimes it only involves pushing 11 numbers.)
In this case, the first and best option is to call the front desk and simply ask. They should know.
If "nobody knows anything" you call Marriott Owner Services and they can tell you.
If the speculation continues here on TUG, it might take 50 posts or more. I love conversations, but facts can sometimes come sooner by other means.
I've just seen it too many times when an answer to any question posed could be had very quickly by making one call.

Points required aren’t the point. When you go to book a 2 bedroom, it ALWAYS shows TWO entry doors. Even when I search 1 night stays 13 months in advance That’s a lock-off.
We book Willow Ridge reasonably often. It’s very easy to find both 1 entry door and 2 entry doors. I can easily differentiate between the units, which is important because the one entry always faces the j terror of the resort and not the parking lot.

Grand Chateau does NOT have a dedicated 2 bedroom.

I am here right now at Grand Chateau in LV.

If someone would spell out the detailed question. I will go to the front desk and ask. No Problem.

The question is if the resort has a dedicated 2BR unit that is not part of a lockoff?

The Marriott website indicates that there are 3 different 2-bedroom configurations at the resort:

Standard 2-bedroom lockoff- unit code ZZAA
2-bedroom unit (part of the 3BR lockoff)- unit code THMV
2-bedroom dedicated unit- unit code TOVI

So does that last one actually exist at the resort?

I will run this by the front desk at some point today.

Which site? I’ve look until my eyes bleed and can’t find what you’ve found.
I’ve also searched about 50 single dates from 12 to 13 months and can’t find a single day that offered a one key 2 bedroom.
If they exist, they must be as scarce as hens teeth. I can’t believe I couldn’t find a single one available searching through multiple dates on the vacation club website

The hotel site. https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/lasvg-marriotts-grand-chateau/rooms/

If you click on the specific unit and then look at the address bar at the top each one ends with a 4-letter code. This corresponds to the unit type.

The pictures and listed square footage are identical for both units but one says its max capacity is 6 and the other says the max capacity is 8 even though they both list 1 King, 2 Doubles, and a Sofa Bed.

I think this is just 2 listings for the 2BR of a 3BR. If it was a dedicated 2 BR I'd expect it to have two queen beds. You may want to call the resort.

Maybe. Just not sure why they would have assigned two different unit codes to the same unit type.

The hotel site is notoriously inaccurate. The MVC Abound site will be more accurate, especially when yo attempt to book.

If they do have a one key 2 bedroom, they’re pretty rare. I can definitely state there is no such animal in either towers 1 or 2. I seriously doubt they altered the unit layout in tower 3 unless it was necessary for the number of parking spaces, and I believe the parking decks for all 4 of the originally planned towers was built first, so that’s a very low probability

Won't the lock-off 2 bedroom side of the 3 bedroom only have one key?

Personally I would call the 2 bedroom side of the 3 bedroom lock-off a deluxe because it occupies the corner and has more windows. The living room feels larger too. There is no door between the units. You enter a lobby from which you either go into the one or two bedroom unit.

I always try to get the 2 bedroom side of the 3 bedroom lock-off over the 2 bedroom lock-off. Oops the secret is out and now I'll struggle to get it next time because of availability.

Yes it does, but it’s not a stand alone 2 bedroom deluxe unit that can be purchased individually. Those units can only be purchased as part of the 3 bedroom unit. The thread started off because someone was looking at a 2 bedroom “deluxe” unit for sale
