I've been following the posts on this website for over a year so I thought I was prepared for my first owner's update. Upon check in I was told that I Kingsgate was going through a pilot program where you were provided lunch or breakfast and the update should only take 45 minutes. At the end of that 45 minutes I was free to pick up my gift and head out the door. That was the beginning of the lies. The lunch was worthless but the inital presentation wasn't really that long but I found more information on this site than from the information that was presented. The real fun started when you went off with you individual reps. I talked with the rep for a few minutes then he excused himself and went and pulled my records (that took for ever). Then he came back and tried to talk me into consolidating all my bi-annual contracts into annual contracts. Told him I didn't see the point, 84K still equal 168K over 2 years, I bought it that way for a reason. Next he pushed the new rewards card, I told him I declined it once and I still didn't want it. He tried to lay out the spill that it could pay for maintenance fees, told him the exchange rate didn't work for me. Then he tried to sign me up for the rental program, told him I had no interest in renting points. So again I sit for 15 minutes looking at a wall and wondering where the heck he went. Next more experience rep comes out and tries the same thing, not working. He leaves and I sit again for about 10 minutes before I got up and went and stood near the desk shooting daggers at every rep that looked my way. Someone finally found my rep and I told him I was done, he tried to show me how I could get 182K points for around $36K, not interested. I'm DONE, where can I pick up my American Express Card. The final closer, I told him you have two minutes to wrap it up because I am DONE. He tried to pull out papers and again I told him I am DONE, I am not purchasing anything and I don't want to hear anything else about Wyndham programs.:annoyed:

I know my rep had to be new because I had him believing that resale is the way to go but he still tried his best. I currently have a Silver VIP which should only be temporary because I purchased a small contract last year before I found this site and the bonus points put me in to that category. I guess I'll use it before I loose it. I was told that I was grandfathered but I know that my VIP status is only temporary.

Thanks to all the post on this site, I successfully survived my first owner's update. Looking forward to the next.:cheer:

Forgot to mention they are really pushing the Access program. So graciously offered to convert my current contracts to Access for a price. Tuned him out so I can't quote the price. Also pushing the pathway program, still don't know what that is because that's what the rep took too long to return.

Williamsburg is the worst for updates. The sales reps badger and harass you until you get up and leave. Longwharf in RI has the best updates - nonexistent.

I enjoy attending what they don't call a sales pitch, but really are. I've been through what you experienced many times. We travel to about 15 to 20 resorts (most being the same resort multiple times) a year and never fell for their fast talking lies or purchased anything, but they still try and still give us AMX cards. You'd think they have a database of owners like us who take their money (AMX cards) and walk instead of letting them take our money. As long as they're offering free money I'm going to take it. By now I think I know more about their sales then most of the sales weasels do.

Jim and Vickie, You need to expand from just taking their money to writing your own script full of total bullshit. They do keep records and are pulled every time you schedule "an update". Then the match you to a sales person, to sell you.

2 little old ladies told me how they spun at tale over several years of an "bastard" child with news of woes different each update. They realized that computer record existed when they ask how "Betty Lou" was doing and if the baby was born yet, etc. They wrote up WHAT they had told, developed regal soap opera quality events and just ramble on at every update - Atlantic City, Williamsburg, Shawnee, Rhode Island --- every where they went.

They said the best part was their planning on the "new news of Betty Lou" and how the time to exit just flew by.

They also were pretty sure, those sales sessions are RECORDED --- notice, you never MOVE, but the timeshare sales people POP in and OUT. And never is there any music playing anywhere. (Time to play the iTunes -- see how fast they request you turn that off).

No Brainer

Commissioned sales person has to sell one something, anything to pay his rent and keep his job.

As the Main Man is fond of saying our sales people are good at pushing the envelope and who cares if we have an "F" BBB rating and some 1,400 complaints. We got good lawyers and there are around 50 million potential victims out there. NOT a quote but personal opinion based on my research.
