I'm buying my wife a Kindle Touch.. Is the power adapter a MUST? ....Any info would be greatly appreciated... I'm clueless... Thx

How much does it cost?
It should come with a USB cable, to charge it from your computer. If you have a power adapter converter for any other USB device (an iPod for instance), that should work for the Kindle as well.
We bought a Duracell USB power adapter last year for DD when she want away for the summer, and wouldn't have a computer to charge her iPod. We now use it for other DD's Kobo reader as well, and it works with my Galaxy Tab, though that came with its own adapter.

You don't need an AC power adapter. It will come with a charger cable that plugs into the wall and if it's like my 3rd generation monochrome Kindle, a single charge will easily run it for a month with wi-fi off- 2-3 weeks with it on.
