I would use bonus points first, as they expire. Club points can be banked into the following year or deposited to RCI to extend their life. Just my opinion...
If you are going to use bonus points first, just make sure the dates you select are exactly what you want because they are not changeable. This also keeps you from combining club point stays with bonus point stays unless you book them independently.
Sometimes bonus points are good for two years, so would it be better to use those points first? Or is it that bonus points are good ONLY at HGVC resorts so it's flexibility is moot?
Use your points points first, and deposit your regular points or rescue them until you run out of bonus points. Or just take a really awesome vacation.
You can manipulate ClubPoints to extend their useful life in a major way.
1. "Rescue" 2012 ClubPoints for use in 2013.
2. "Deposit" 2013 ClubPoints by 12/31/12 for use in 2014. In 2014, you can deposit them into the RCI program for 2015+2016.
That frees up your BP's for use this year and in 2013.
