My friend has 194 TPU's in one grouping that he has extended numerous times. He has other groupings that he has as well. He finally realizes that he cannot use all of these as he gets about 70 TPU's per year in addition. Can he transfer this to someone else? I believe he can. What is the estimated value of these TPU's? I know he paid over $20.00 per TPU on average. Any recommendation is appreciated. I believe these expire in June of 2020 but I believe these can be extended.

RCI is not so happy about selling TPUs, so whatever he does, he should do it quietly.

He can transfer TPUs to another RCI member for a cost of...it used to be $99 per transfer, but it might be $129 now. So ideally, he would move them all in just one or two big transfers, to someone who wants a lot.

You can transfer to another rci account for $98 or 99. Then the new owner would have to pay to combine or extend for a much larger fee,so there are a lot of additional expenses for the person receiving the tpus. Or he can book something for someone before they expire, but that will include a guest cert, the exchange fee and whatever the cost of the tpus.

I also believe if they are already combined you have to transfer the whole combined deposit. If they are not combined the fee is per deposit.
RCI prohibits selling the deposit so you really can't advertise the sale.

As others said, it's hard to just sell / transfer TPUs. If he isn't using that many TPU's, why not sell or give away the underlying Timeshare? I currently have about 300 TPUs, and realize I need to give away my timeshare or I will forever be paying combine and extension fees to RCI. My base cost TPU per MF is currently less than $13.50 / TPU.

I know this doesn't solve the current problem of large numbers of TPU's expiring, but at least it solves the future problem of getting too many TPUs that can't be used.

I agree that would be the best way to stop the bleeding and he would have all the existing TPU's to use going forward without adding about 70 TPU's per year. Thanks for your input.
