Has anyone noticed a trend that the 13 month calendar is being manipulated? At popular resorts, especially Park City the availability calendar 13 months out is never available on the 13 month exact day. It used to be first thing in the morning everyone gets on and at least has a chance to reserve the unit of choice if you were lucky but not anymore for the last 2 years. Since there are no limits to cancellations on the same resort it appears some owners in my opinion are manipulating the system so that NO ONE has a chance to reserve a unit 13 months out. Also because the units are 13 months out there is no waiting list. Here is trend that I am noticing, and please tell me if my remarks are invalid. I am posting this thread on 2/15/24, so lets use this day as the starting point. Lets say I made a reservation from 3/15/25-3/22/25 which is exactly 13 months from today. Now 10 other owners did the same thing so there is no availability on the 13 month calendar until 3/22/25. That means no one can make any reservations 2/16/24-2/21/24 since we are talking 13 months out. So you now are looking at the availability calendar and see the next time you can even try to book is 2/22/24, 7 days from today.
This is how the manipulation works; since my reservation is 3/15/25-3/22/25 I know that I do not have to worry about anyone trying to to book on 2/21/24 because there is no availability. So on 2/21/24, as the owner I go on the site at an off-peak hour and cancel my reservation 3/15/25-3/22/25. That cancelation automatically triggers an open unit and since it in the window on 2/21/24 even though every other member is expecting the opportunity to book on 2/22/24 at 6am. I can book another week 3/21/25-3/28/25 immediately because it is considered a new booking date and 10 other owners do the same thing because again there is no waitlist 13 months out and no cancelation limits on any resort. So now when everyone else logs in the morning on 2/22/24 they notice again that they are not able to try to book on the exact day 13 months out and they see the next time any unit is available is 2/28/24 or 3/28/25 on the 13 month calendar. This is done weekly by owners until they get the the exact days they want like Christmas and New Year and that is why if you follow the Park City calendar you will see that 13 months out exact day is never available. Look and track it yourself for confirmation. I have filed multiple complaints and have emailed this to the board without any resolutions.
If you have followed my logic, please comment and let me know if what I have said is inaccurate. Thank you.
