12-packs becoming thing of the past

First beer, now soda. It seems like 12-packs are being phased out and replaced by 8-packs for the same price.

That's a pretty hefty price increase, isn't it?

There's still some on the shelves I expect it's remaining inventory.

Bummer!

Now I'll have to buy 2- 8packs to be balanced! And to think that the folks in St. Louis just changed the half-racks of Amber Bock.

Do they honestly think they are fooling the public? It is annoying to have the same amount of packaging but less product to keep the price the same.

Please don't check your ice cream container. You'll see you've been getting 25% less for the same price for a while now. Most people didn't even notice when it went from 2 to 1.75 and now 1.5.

Beware when you see new packaging on anything you purchase. Especially when it says 'New! Improved!' Grab your wallet, 'cause there's a pickpocket loose!

Maybe America will lose weight if we eat from these smaller packages?

Orange juice is now being sold in 59oz containers instead of 64oz.

V8 also. This has been going on for quite some time. Remember when coffee was sold in 1 pound cans? Then 13 oz. Recently I saw a can marked 10.75 oz.

I would probably not notice a slight increase in the cost every now and then, but I do notice the product disappearing from the containers.

Unlikely. Ice cream might come in 1.x quart containers (instead of 2qts - 1/2 gallon), and coffee in 13oz jars instead of 16oz, but unless your ice cream bowl or coffee mug are smaller, you're likely still consuming the same amount. It's just that you're not getting the same number of servings per container as you used to.

I've gone back to drinking ice tea, even at restaurants. It's cut back drastically on the amount of soda I drink and it's probably better for my health.

I hate it when they cut back on the amount of product just to keep the price the same. It doesn't help me when I have to buy things more frequently. They might as well keep the size the same and increase the price.

Where is this at?

In Texas, we have yet to see any 8-packs at the local supermarket. In fact prices have come down recently.

We're in FL. There's still some 12-pack inventory available, but the shelf space seems to be now dedicated to 8-packs.

Recently on vacation (WM Indio) the on-site mini-mart had 4-packs of 16-oz. aluminum bottles. They were great except they weren't twist-offs.

Plus, the aluminum bottles obviously don't break like glass bottles and they were sturdy enough that you couldn't even crush them easily and create sharp edges. I think the aluminum bottles are perfect for poolside.

Here in southeast Fl all Pepsi products went to 8 can packs quite awhile ago. I know.. I am a Pepsi drinker :bawl: A few times so far they've gone on sale to pretty much pre-change pricing. I stock up then.

DH is a Coke drinker and they are still in 12 can packs... but the price has gone up... and no great sales on them yet.

All I can say is thank God we don't smoke as well as drink soda! There's be no $$ for regular food left!

When I was on a recent vacation I wanted a 6-pack of beer, in cans, so I could take them by the pool. There were none to be found.

I've often noticed the lack of 6 pack cans of beer while on vacation. Since I don't drink much and, about the only time I'll drink a beer is while on vacation, particularly if it's south FL where I can enjoy the pool or the beach without driving, I might drink a couple of beers during the week. But a 6 pack is the most I would want.

I have yet to see a 4 pack but, for me that would be perfect. That's about as much as I'll drink in a week. Sometimes buying a 6 pack and leaving a couple behind is cheaper than buying individual cans, so I'm being wasteful when I do that.
